Prayut distances himself from ‘respect’ order

Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha defended the controversial guidelines for taking his photo by saying the order was made three years ago and he was baffled about why it had only surfaced now.

While saying that he did not want any misunderstanding or problems with the media, Prayut said he believed the guideline had been written with the good intention for both the prime minister’s safety and media standards.

The guideline asked photographers to be at least five metres away from the junta leader and show gestures of respect to him. It was imposed on the media on Friday when Prayut opened the Thailand Industry Expo at Impact Exhibition and Convention Centre in Muang Thong Thani.

Prayut said the authorities had not been enforcing the guidelines strictly in the past three years. But he said he had already told Special Branch to review and revoke some of the rules, including the gestures of respect.

“Respect just depends on each individual,” he said.

What is an acceptable gesture of respect, to an unelected Prime minister, in Thailand? 1000,0000 Bahts?

Is that self respect or no respect ?

It's gonna be tough finding that individual.

Maybe one day he will realise that sometimes the best thing to do is to just shut your mouth and say nothing.

Probably as unlikely though, as an on schedule election. :cheesy:

respect can only be earned not demanded!!!

I think I read it about Chinese, Cambodian and Korean leaders....all his companians

Three years for orders from the top to get through to the minions?

Explains why the country hasn't moved forward much since our revered leader took power then.

No one listens to anything he says.

He needs the Putin approach. Mt suggestion would be the beginners cycle:

Beginner Cutting Cycle:
- Oxandrolone: 150 pills (10 mg/pill)
- Stanozolol: 200 pills (10 mg/pill)
- Clenbuterol: 100 pills (40 mcg/pill)
- Tamoxifen: 30 pills (20 mg/pill)
- Clomiphene: 30 pills (50 mg/pill)

I would also throw in HGH 10 unit daily for 1 month and then 1 week off and another month on. Just see how that goes, but I would also up the tempo 3 months latter to help with the cognitive shortfall.

Honestly I want to see my General ripped. Get the shirt off. Show the girls he has still got it. Could do wonders for his election chances together with being more like Hun Sen, a caring and sympathetic man for his party followers. President Recep Tayyip  is also another shinning light when it comes to gathering names. If you can't do this how in hell are you expected to stay in power for the next 30 years. Just ask Hun Sen

Follow the money and where it is spent.

Stop speaking, then.

All this misunderstanding stems from him.

Prayut distances himself from respect order.

Well nothing unusual there, everything he does is distant, like himself.... Distant.

Maybe I missed the original story where that file photo came from, but the shadow sure looks like he is holding a gun.

I thought it was an attempt at a Neville Chamberlain impression - peace in our time.

(although IIRC Chamberlain's famous phrase came to him while in the smallest  room of the house: "I have in my hand a piece of paper")

Does the media have to show the same respect to his cardboard cut-out when he invites them to ask the image any questions he chooses not to answer? That childish behaviour is degrading in itself, but's that's OK apparently.

Yes, but while using a cardboard cut-out of a camera.

Or an "on schedule erection", which is how I first mistakenly read your post.

Isn't that what Viagra's for?

Gestures of respect, I suppose a wai would be respectful but I can't think of anything else that wouldn't be personally degrading. He isn't asking people to kiss his feet, or his ring, is he? That would be a disgrace.

Next thing -

Photographers must kowtow, sorry, take photographs on their knees.

No photographs or media questions allowed unless reporters prostrate themselves before me.

Just read the list of 14 do's and don't in the Bangkok Post.

Totally absurd and typically Thai.

What kind of respect does he deserve when he warns media that he has power to execute reporters!

https://www.reuters.com/article/us-thailand-junta-media-idUSKBN0ML0RV20150325

And has threatened to "probably execute" those who did not tell the truth.

https://www.smh.com.au/world/bananathrowing-thai-leader-threatens-to-probably-execute-journalists-20171213-h03qh2.html

There is a gesture that might be appropriate but it's not one of supplication.

This very small man does not have any concept that respect needs to be earned. It is never freely given, regardless of rank or position. It is only demanded by tyrants, despots or authoritarian figures. He has done nothing in his entire career to deserve respect, much less as a completely incompetent PM, who cares not one iota for the common man.

More likely he will be expecting respect on the level of a monarch before long. He just does not get the idea that the rest of the world was not created to bow before him.
