Cant help on much here, but.

We shipped our cat to the US, and the agent for whatever reason said, it's mostly airlines shipping through Amsterdam that do pets as freight.

As for regs, we found the most onerous were those for the Thai authorities to get her an export certificate, the US side was a breeze

Korean Airlines Bkk Seoul Toronto, shortest time 19 hours in the air, 2 hours in Seoul. You should have necessary vaccinations and vets letter to verify, probably translated to English.

Suggest you start with the Canadian government web resources like this -

http://www.inspection.gc.ca/animals/terrestrial-animals/imports/policies/live-animals/pets/dogs/eng/1331876172009/1331876307796

I arranged for 2 GS to go to a European country last year. Ended up using a shipping agent who provided the right size/spec dog crate, booked the flight and organised the clearance (for which you still need to attend) - although you can do most of this yourself. For European countries you need to start the process over 3 months before planned departure due to blood tests but not sure for Canada.

If your GS is fully grown prepare yourself for some hefty costs as the you will need a very large crate and the flight cost will be based on a volumetric formula (not just weight). The flight alone will probably be 50k baht or more and the crate over 10k.

There is some good, older information on past threads in the plants/pets forum so if I was you I would have a search in there.

Get an agent to give you a quote and an idea of the process and then you will have a ballpark.

Best of luck.

Canada seems surprisingly lenient, but perhaps its harder for extra-terrestrial animals ?

Dogs may enter Canada if they are accompanied by a rabies vaccination certificate.

Rabies Vaccination Certificate

The European Union pet passport is an acceptable alternative to the rabies vaccination certificate as long as all the required elements outlined below are included.

The rabies vaccination certificate must:

  • be written in English or French;
  • be issued and signed by a licensed veterinarian;
  • identify the animal (breed, sex, colour, and weight);
  • state that the animal is vaccinated against rabies;
  • indicate the date of vaccination;
  • indicate the trade name and the serial number of the licensed vaccine; and
  • specify the duration of immunity (otherwise, it will be considered valid for one year from the date of vaccination).

Animals That Do Not Meet Canadian Rabies Import Requirements

If a dog does not meet the Canadian rabies import requirements, owners will be required, at their own expense, to:

  • have the animal vaccinated against rabies within a specified period of time; and
  • provide the vaccination record to a Canadian Food Inspection Agency office.

Please note that the option of rabies vaccination upon arrival is not available for dogs less than 8 months of age imported under the commercial category.
