A hapless friend visiting his mate in the cells of a police station ended up joining him in there after bringing him "krathom tea" contained in a soy milk carton.

The police jailer examined the contents of the plastic bag that also contained food when Khordae, 26, was visiting his friend Kariya held on drugs charges at Sabayoy police station in Songkhla yesterday.

The brown liquid didn't look like soy milk at all and soon Khordae was banged up too on a charge of possessing Class 5 drugs.

In an effort at mitigation Khordae claimed that the prisoner's elder brother gave him the drink and food.

Police dismissed that as nonsense and locked him up.

Sanook said in their headline that it was all for the love of a good friend.
