I have been on an O visa for over 4 years but managed to overstay a visa exempt by 30 days. Hua hin immigration were great, at first they simply said,
pay now or pay later when you leave as we can not issues you with a 7 day extention as its past the date any visa could be issued untill. I mentined I had a son and the guy said
go get his birth cert., copies of other things and we will give you 60 days from your over stay day. 40 minutes later im all legal with anothe 30 days left, minus 17800bht.

You qualified for an extension that was longer than your overstay is the reason it could be done. Some offices might not of done it with a 30 day overstay.

The 60 day extension to visit your wife or child if they are Thai is a standard extension they do and it has been discussed on this forum before.

You were told that it was not possible to get the 7 days to leave the country and pay the overstay fine.

I am sure you paid the overstay fine and got a stamp for it,

I got no overstay stamp at all, and yes i paid the fine, but to be told <removed> not go, is out of order

That is unusual not to of gotten a overstay stamp. It has to be done along with a receipt for the overstay fine.
