BANGKOK — Search your pockets right now. Some of those 1 baht coins might actually be worth 400 times their official value.

Four years to the day later, the same antique shop behind an infamous offer to buy 10 baht coins for 100,000 baht, is back with a new bounty.

If there paying 1,500 per coin i would drive the 7 hours it takes to get to Bangkok stay with family for a couple of days and then drive 7 hours to get back or at least i would consider it . If their offering that much they must be worth a lot more .

Usually rare coins or those similar in the OP, need to be in mint condition to have any real value. I would suggest before rushing off to claim your fortune, is to first check this out.

SOME of those 1 baht coins !!

If I read this right then only new 1 baht coins which don’t have the two sides inverted are more valuable.

I.e. if you flip the coin over then one side is inverted normally not as is in the photo !!

Maybe not so obvious in the OP !!

Actually it only depends if you understand what a percent sign means.

1 baht times 40,000% = 400 baht for those that never got their head around percentages.

I hang my head in shame.

Mind you I did get an O level in maths but it was 40 years ago.

On the TV they say one of this coins is 600 baht value.

I have about 8 new coins with the new king, but none of them is a misprint ?

7/11 accept them without bothering to count them. Just bag them.

Depends whether you believe the heading, or the text body. Obviously someone didn't do much of an editing job, always a good idea when writing anything.

Never mind. They're good for a package of Mama noodles.

So you have 240,000 bahts worth of these coins, where do you live, Mars ?

So I can assume either reading comprehension or maths or both aren't your strong points?

The headline was a misprint, but writing mismint would have only confused TVF posters more !!

Why was the headline a misprint?  Made perfect sense.

Never mind.  Rodney Trotter had a GCE in maths.  ?

If the value of  a 1 Baht coin increase to 2 Baht, that equals a 100% increase.

So if the value increase from 1 Baht to 400 Baht, that would make 100% 400 times.

100x400= 40 000

Some more rocket science:

Suppose the value of a coin decreases from 400 Baht to 0 Baht. How many percent has the value decreased?

A. 40 000%

B. 400%

C. 100%

A. 40 000%

C. 100%

400 baht would then be 100% therefore to decrease to zero would mean it's lost 100% of it's value.

Are you a Kindergarton teacher by any chance?
