Is my money safe in Thai baht and banks?

Featured Replies

Just my small opinion, but after living here a long time, I noticed that currency fluctuations happen all the time about +/- 10%.  If you want to try and time the market, that is up to you. No one can guess the stock market in every country. Sometimes Thailand does better, sometimes the U.S. does better. FOREX can kill you or make you rich.

  • Why move it all to Thailand? Why not just move enough for the next 2-3 years?

  • You could open a foreign currency deposit account so you only have to worry about exchange rates when you withdraw funds and change it to baht. Info here for an account at Bangkok Bank.  htt

I tried to figure the compounded rate but couldn't find the keys on my calculator for calculating powers greater than 2. Couldn't make logarithms work, either. Guess I need to locate a user's manual. I know the keys are there, because I used them some years ago.

1.055 X 1.055 X 1.055 X 1.055 X 1.055 X 1.055 X 1.055 X 1.055 X 1.055 X 1.055 X
1.055 X 1.055 =

My old HP-GX had great Y^X but I just use the spreadsheet now for anything I don’t do on the phone...

Actually, just turned the phone sideways and the “scientific” calculator has a nice X^Y function.

Just enter 1.055, tap X^Y, enter 12, tap =

Easy peasy!!
