Thai man shoots his young neighbor dead because he wouldn't turn down the music

I also sympathize with Somboon. Too many people in Thailand and this region have ZERO consideration for others, especially when it comes to noise. I'm not condoning murder. I would have shot out his speakers and his sound system. Of course, then the little shit would probably have come back with a gun and a bunch of friends.

I really feel for Somboon. We should start some fund raising to help him get a good lawyer. Well handled a case like this one could help many of us... The noisy, shitty, little no hoper is a loss

  • You think the police could solve it? That is why people here decide to take action themselves because law and enforcements don't work.

  • If he gets bail, I'll have some 'work' for him.

Earplugs wouldn't send him to prison for decades

And earplugs would not have stopped his internal organs vibrating from heavy bass either.

The noisy, shitty, little no hoper is a loss for no one.

What if it was your son? You would have the same view if someone shot him dead for playing music too loud? Prick deserves life without parole.

...it is the lack of enforcement of basic laws that pushed the shooter...

...that...combined with that 'attitude'.....arrogant...rude...insulting...mocking...which is so prevalent here...

...for whatever basis....that 'attitude' will display itself....time and again...

....no reason for anyone to be booming music out of/off of their pickup at all hours of the night...

...no reason....no reasonable reason...for the authorities to have ignored it either...

For the love of music......at least he died doing what he liked.

your response sounds dumb

It would tough to be on this jury.

Shooting someone dead is never 'right' unless to defend ones life. However, I have experienced sleep deprivation before, it can make people really insane. If this occurred often over a long period of time, I can relate to how angry he was.

Should have taken his gun and shot out the sound system in the car.  Either that or take a baseball bat to it.  Shooting the man in the head is a bit extreme.

There is no jury in Thailand !!!!!

There is basically no way to deal with animals except vigilantes! This should have been carried out a long time ago.

If he had his music lower, he would have heard the gunman coming....

how loud of music at his guneral?

yes he deserved to be murdered for loud music - right ??

Are you insane ? you have very clearly lost it along with those that "liked" your post

He should have called the police, it is their job to sort stuff like this out - if they fail to do so (which is likely) it does not give anyone the right to take a gun and murder someone

You may have only been in Thailand a short while therefore your post is only laughable .  But if you have been in the country for awhile you post is a down right insult you may have deep enough pockets to get anything done by the police but most of us prefer our Bank accounts to be as full as possible not in the brown envelopes

There is no answer to this except perhaps time. As I write this there are two loudspeaker systems at two parties within earshot though both over a kilometer away. When those parties are closer there is no sleeping in the morning nor ability to get work done in the afternoon, and this includes coming from the temple close by. No one I know likes, my land lord and family are just as annoyed as I but societial convention keep him from doing anything but grin and bear along with it. The late King actually told people years ago that they need to keep the music down if not for their own health than for the peace of their nieghbors. This was reflected where I live at the time with huge banners showing the king and a warning saying that public music must be under 70 decibles (that is from memory, could be a bit off), I remember so clearly because the banner hung above a school that was having sports day events and the music from the stadium size system they put together was punishing from half a kilometer away. This is not the first case of a person killing someone over loud music and whenever it happens there is bound to be applause because so many of us have been reduced to that kind of callous thinking by the total disregard of our nieghbors. TIT

I have sympathy for both the shooter and truck owner, but understanding for the shooter only. Perhaps this will serve as a bit of a wake-up for the other folks who make unreasonable noise, and I include those idiots who have modified their bikes and car exhausts to waken the dead.

nobody can deny that this is a big problem in thailand.....thai people don't care the others and they think they can do what they want without respect.....

i went next door to turn down the music once and a angry crazed Thai came at me with a meat clever from next do or.  the people at the restaurant where stunned.  kept my cool.  for a country that is supposed to practice respect/conscientious i found this peculiar. maybe half of the population is deaf?

Id  disown my son if he did this and considered myself a  failure as a  parent..............but guess  accepting any responsibility for your actions is something you dont understand

An off topic post about a road rage incident in California has been removed, the reply has been removed as well.

issues with the police are a different topic entirely and if you read my original post here on this thread you would have notice that I did point to the police and their possible inaction, if you find anything I have said as funny or laughable they you are a very strange disturbed and scary person indeed - I sure would not like to be living next door to you

I bet he didn't turn down the music after he was shot dead either. What a waste.

Feel sorry for the guy having his sleep disturbed.. murdering the culprit sorted it out but has ruined the rest of his life...

a little more fore thought might have been applied..

from the 3rd floor an anonymous bottle of petrol dropped into the back of the pick-up would had the desired effect

It's one thing to want to kill some rude a-hole who has no respect for others; it's a completely different thing following through on it.  I'm sure everyone will sleep a bit better now, though.
