Park Ranger Found Dead in Sea, Investigation Underway: Rayong
Picture from responders. The body of a 47-year-old park ranger was discovered floating near the coast of Koh Kham in Rayong Province on the morning of September 24. The cause of death remains a mystery, and authorities are conducting a thorough investigation. The deceased, identified as Surachit, was found face down in the water, dressed only in shorts, by local residents near the Khao Laem Ya-Mu Ko Samet National Park area. Officers from Pae Police Station, along with medical staff from Rayong Hospital and a rescue team, arrived on the scene shortly after 10:30 to recover the body. Preliminary examinations revealed no signs of injury, and it is believed that Surachit had been dead for at least two hours before being found. Surachit, a cheerful man known to enjoy drinking, worked as a park ranger on Koh Kham. On the day of his death, he was off duty. Initial investigations suggest that he may have fainted and fallen into the sea without anyone noticing, eventually drowning. His body was later washed ashore by the tide, where it was discovered by locals who alerted the authorities. Investigators are interviewing his colleagues on the island and his wife, as well as reviewing CCTV footage to determine the events leading up to his death. The body has been sent to Rayong Hospital for an autopsy. -- 2024-09-25 -

Is this viable for 6 months stay in Thailand
Theoretically it is possible to enter Visa exempt and get 60 days, then leave and re-enter and get 60 days, then leave and re-enter and get 60 days for 180 days I am a UK passport holder and have been out of Thailand for last 15 months - I previously had mix of OA and O (retirement) over last 14 years, but my last visit was for just 6 months: 45 day exempt entry and 45 day exempt (Border hop) and extension in Bangkok and tourist visa in single entry Venetian. If my plan is possible, which border next to Thailand is the safest and how long is required to stay before returning for Immigration to accept re-entry for a land entry. If I was to take a different option by doing the exit and re-enter via Vietnam on either entry, and since Vietnam is not bordering Thailand this will need to be an air crossing and not a land crossing - would this increase the probability of success for either of the attempts for exit / re-entries on visa exempt 60 days. -

10,000-Baht Grant for Over 30 Million People Unlikely This Year
It is unlikely that over 30 million Thai citizens will receive a 10,000-baht grant under the second phase of the Pheu Thai-led populist handout scheme this year, Deputy Finance Minister Julapun Amornvivat stated yesterday (Sep. 24). Out of approximately 45 million Thais, around 14.5 million will start receiving the funds through their state welfare cards today (Sep. 25), with the remaining 30 million expected to wait until next year, according to Julapun. Among the 14.5 million recipients classified as "fragile," three million will get the 10,000-baht handout tomorrow, with others following daily, the deputy minister added. However, the second phase of the government's delayed handout, intended for over 30 million people, is unlikely to roll out in the fourth quarter of this year, which starts next month, Julapun noted. It is still uncertain whether the second phase will include the 10,000-baht digital wallet handout, as initially promised by the Pheu Thai party, the core of the coalition government, under the 2025 budget. Residence certificate with Tourist Visa?
Yes it is a recent change, posted a day ago. "Tod Daniels Admin Top contributor IF you're talking about Bangkok immigrations they no longer require you to be on a visa/extension where you do 90 day reporting to get a certificate of residence, You DO need a TM30 <notification of foreigner in residence, to have been filed on you by your land lord or yourself as far as where you live because they mail the certificate of residence to that address. In Bangkok you go to the main immigration office at the government complex Building B out at Chaengwattana Road, you want section B (they do TM30 and Certificate of Residence) You fill out the form, make the copies they require, pay 200 baht, they give you a receipt and a Thai Post EMS tracking number and the certificate of residence is mailed to you in about 5 days This is an example of the form you fill out for a certificate of residence" -
