Hi

We are a couple from Vietnam and Israel.

We don’t want to live in any of our origin countries now, and we are struggling with visas in Thailand or a place to live.

Right now we are finishing our 3 months visa(with extension) in Thailand.

We want to come back for as long as possible. We are checking our options.

Both have free 30 days on arrival.

1. In this calendar year we already visited twice, one time on tourist 30 days visa(Feb), then now on a 60 days visa(+30). Are we going to have a problem getting another 60 days in this calendar year? Should we wait outside for a month to make sure they don’t ask hard questions making a new 60 visa?

2. The 6 months multiple entry visa- do I have to be in my origin country to make it or there is any hack for that to be done somewhere else? Is this visa is harder to get?

3. Any other ideas, other than student visa ? ( we think about cooking school in KP which is pretty costly )

4. Any idea about another country?

Thank you .

1. No problem, you can get a few tourist visas in a row before they start making problems (for the vietnamese person probably sooner than for the israeli person)

2. In your own country, needs proof of funds, maybe a letter from an employer

3. Thailand Elite if you have the money ?

4. People say staying in Cambodia or Phillipines long term is easy if it's just about the visa

Thanks man you helped us. We are pretty lost, seems that Thai don’t like Vietnames a lot and she needs too many papers for every visa.

Having said that, all these young people in KP that lives there for months and months for yoga , I wonder what they do ( not teachers or students).

Philipines is 30 days only visa for her but I will try to check, although the magical atmosphere in Sri Thanu (KP) is irreplaceable.

I feel strange that as someone who have enough money and multiple science degrees, senior tech job, I can barely find a place for us to live for a while when we figuring out the future.

Why everyone scared from Vietnames??

Thanks again:)

I've personally met quite a few Vietnamese people working illegally in Germany, probably that's the main reason ?

I think Laos is easy to stay for Vietnamese, at least there are quite a lot of them. You could also just stay in Vietnam with her, this would of course be the easiest solution.

If you work online you could use a company like Iglu to get a non-immigrant B visa for Thailand. If you marry her she could also get a non-immigrant visa for being your spouse.

Friend of mine from Sweden that have lived on Samui for 40 years have told me about thousands of Vietmames boat refuges that came ashore in the early 80s.

Just go stay in Vietnam with her? Is it so bad for you two there? You're obviously looking for work, you can set your girl up with a business there.

She really want to stay in Vietnam. for me, Saigon is hell, it’s like a huge prison. The traffic, noise, mess, garbage, people, yak. Most of the large cities there are like that. Already tried for 7months.

You can not compare Thailand with Laos or Vietnam, as a third world Thailand seems 20 years ahead of Vietnam.

I can probably get anything I want in Thailand but not her, and after a year together I still need time before marriage.

No, we work online, I do NOT  “try to find work for her in Thailand”.  We build online business together.

Her parents are rich and she have everything she need in VN, including high paying job.

She wants VN, for me it’s death.

Sad story, but it is my fault if it ends ?

Thanks all.

I assume neither of you is close to 50 years old (if either of you is over 50, there are probably better options, especially if you are married and of the opposite sex). Otherwise, for Thailand, the practical solution if you are sure you want to stay for several years, is the expensive Thailand Elite Easy Access visa.

They don't.  Perhaps it's because they are serious, diligent and good at their game.  Don't just sit around.  My Mom-in-law was a Vietnamese refugee in Thailand way back, like in the 1960's.  Lived most of her life in that status.  About 8 years ago, we rediscovered her oldest daughter, who still lives in Vietnam.  Refugee life is a sad one.

When I was in the Peace Corps in Thailand and married my wife, the Thai Land Development Department boss didn't like it.  He gave me bad reviews so that I could not extend my tour another 2 years.  It was that and the fact that I didn't kiss butt.

As for being scared of Vietnamese, I'd be happy to introduce you to my wife.  Then you would understand.  Her old Grandma in the black pajamas was really scary.  555.

I think I would do just fine in Vietnam in a less congested area.
