PM suggests gathering fleet of specialists to produce skilled labors

BANGKOK, 03 September 2018 (NNT) - Thailand's Prime Minister has urged the Ministry of Education and related agencies to gather together a team of vocational instructors, in a bid to produce human resources that match the needs of the market. 

Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha has indicated that several educational institutes have joined hands with private companies to produce human resources to satisfy the needs of the market by enlisting experts in various fields to foster the next generation of specialized laborers. However, he quickly pointed out that the efforts are being done in isolation and lack unity. 

He then urged the ministry and its associated units to consolidate the efforts, while making sure to keep records of these specialists in the Big Data system. The central database will be accessible to all educational institutes. 

General Prayut has also set a target of recruiting and documenting at least 500 such experts this year. 

The government is, therefore, looking for specialists as school instructors in the 10 targeted industries and other fields necessary to the development of the Eastern Economic Corridor. 

The Prime Minister added that today’s students must be mindful of market demand and choose their classes accordingly. He said making the right choice would ensure employment and income, while contributing to the development of the Kingdom. 

The 10 target industries are the next-generation automotive industry, the Intelligent electronics industry, the advance agriculture and biotechnology, the food processing industry, the high wealth and medical tourism industries, the digital industry, the robotics industry, the aviation and logistics industry, the comprehensive healthcare industry and the biofuel and biochemical industries.

Has anyone told the schools yet,  these specialist school instructors are going to go in to the schools thinking they could do things they way, and the schools will say, "we have been doing it this way for the past  x years, , and the instructors  will do it the school way, and it will all  end up just like before ,

As we all know you can not have educated kids .

The only problem, of course, will be that few, if any, of these 500 experts will have the communication and math skills to get their expertise and vocational skills across to their students. This is just another Prayut sound-bite, similar to the 'Exclusive R&D' initiative that he spat out, last month, eleven months after an identical scheme that he'd evidently lost track of. What's happened to that, then, big-boy . . . not enough R&D before opening your trap? Nice blouse, though … at least traditional silk weaving will be on the up, judging by the rate you go through those things.

Now who is to teach him that he is not liked with all his military buddies strong arming with an iron fist? This guy has answers for everything that mean absolutely zero. Now just how did he get his money? Let's talk about the real issue.

Good luck buddy.  It's too late, and you are doing absolutely nothing to fix the underlying/long term issues.  Too bad too sad, as the saying goes.  Day by day Thailand becomes less relevant, and one step closer to a Chinese child

I'd like to nominate 'Thailand the hub of hubris'

You can only laugh.   500 'Experts'....easy to find if you want expert scammers and the only 'Innovation' is thinking up new ways to steal as much money as possible from either Farang or Thai.    There is no ambition in Thailand from anyone other than to 'get rich quick',  just like the leaders of The Military and any Political Party you choose.

Was dating this Thai woman. She asked about the machines I build.  She told me that farangs are fearless and will try things, where we Thais are less so.  We talked about there being no Thai branded vehicles other than tuk tuks.  She said Thais need to be told what to do .  I do not believe what she said was 100% accurate, but there should be more incentives for local businesses to develop products based on resources. 

 

China has done it , but China is more open to outside ideas than Thailand. 

There are many capable young people in Thailand, who with efficient skills training will be competent to take up regular employment, and, carry the diligence, ability,  to perform well.

Thailand as far as implementing western ideology, is actually rather unique, the subsistence model where the older generation are currently situated allows for the offspring if they get 'fed up' or disinterested in work to simply return to the 'fold' and live cheap for a while. Thus apart from financial pressure to work - (and the low wages can hardly be described as attractive) unlike the west there is no real social pressure to work.

 

Ideas from the government to encourage development of the labour force are good, but as with all such suggestions cost vs results should be accurately reported, monitored accordingly, in a transparent manner.

To be welcomed as a major achievement, the positive results must be reported for the whole country, not isolated in more affluent areas.

The plan to diversify in the agricultural/rural environment can suceed if the economic corridors of regular attractive employment reach well into the rural areas, supported by training,development and infrastructure.

Where does he think he will find 500 " Experts "

Certainly not within the Borders of Thailand. All experts who are experts, are just that because they have been Instructed, and Educated by the very best in the World.

They certainly are not just " Nominated " from a pool of ordinary teachers and Vocational Instructors.

A prefect characterization of the Prayut government - too little and too late.

Three months ago, the Ministry of Labour met with cabinet members to present a strategy to produce more skilled laborers to match demand from the Eastern Economic Corridor within two months after a survey found that almost 30,000 qualified workers are still required in the special economic zone.

That's a fail that even article 44 can't instantly produce the needed specialized laborers.

Uncle must be ecstatic, he has stumbled on another chance to form some sort of committee that will produce redundant results.

Thailand,  definitely on the path to self destruction, ably assisted by the government expertise in bugger-all.

I work in a thai govt’ building, there’s no earth in the electrical system

The other day in the local mechanics, watching a lad repeatedly beating a valve into a head with a lump hammer, i’ve seen it many times before, I think it’s their way of reseating the valve, (should be carefully ground in with grinding paste I think).... it’s what they’re taught to do by useless, incompetent stubborn lazy instructors.... job f****ed.

Naahh.. they'll show them a two hours video on how to be an expert, and they fill out a 10 questions multiple choice form.
