Consumer confidence is important but it's not the be all end all of things, unless you're expecting a consumer-led recovery/growth that is. And given that exports and tourism are doing that job, I'm not sure how important it is in economic terms.

There will never be a consumer led growth recovery as Thailand economy is two third export driven. It’s important though but will not be a key factor in driving economic growth like USA.

Yawn......the Thai economy, exports and tourism, don't care whether it's a military government or any other type of government that's in power, that's why the Baht is so strong, in case you hadn't noticed.

The Baht is very strong, but little or no money from the profits of the few seems to be going back into the Thai economy.

However there appears to be plenty of money flowing out to buy lush London, Paris and Madrid property , and of course to buy and sponsor  Soccer Clubs and the like.

What nonsense you talk!

The Baht is strong because exports and tourism are raking in huge amounts of foreign currency, both those areas employ millions of people who benefit as a result.

And so what if the odd billionaire here and there buys a soccer club or an overseas home, he wouldn't be able to do that if business wasn't good and business needs employees who also get paid.

Find this very hard to believe. Every Thai business person I have spoken too are not confident at all. They are all wanting a change of government so things can get back on track.
