Thai Govt continues promoting tourism as Thailand voted best country for people

 

 

BANGKOK, 10th September 2018 (NNT) – The Thai government is making changes to ministerial rules and regulations to streamline tourism after Thailand was voted the world’s best country for people. 

In his national televised this weekend, Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha announced that Thailand was voted the ‘best country for people’ by readers of the well-respected US-based travel magazine, Conde Nast Traveler. 

In the category of best countries in the world for tourism, Thailand came in at number 3, behind Italy and Greece. 

In addition, the famous Samui Island of Surat Thani Province came in at number 9 among the “best islands in the world.” 

Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Bangkok and Six Senses Yao Noi Resort in Phang Nga Province achieved 4th and 5th places for “best hotels in Asia and the Indian Subcontinent.” 

Gen Prayut added that ministerial rules and regulations will be adjusted to focus on community tourism, wealth distribution, and the enhancement of the grassroots economy, as the government targets 3.4 trillion baht in tourism revenue in 2019.

Samui only 9th in the world? This cannot be true. Samui should be in the top 3 with its unique eco system, wildlife reservoir, and unspoilt beaches. If you can find them, that is.

Seems to be some confusion here.  A news item yesterday place Thailand #4 in SE Asia as a tourist destination.

As can be seen from this link Thailand was not ranked at all in 2018 by CNT. Even in 2017 it was ranked 8th not 3rd. Pinocchio just can't help himself.

wouldnt it be more constuctive to tell thais that tourists numbers are deminishing because of a lack of trust and safety and that the country as a whole should step it up and make thailand good again (or something). I guess the dillema with this is that if thais knew it and thing's were to change corruption would have to go. So keep up the bs!

What about the Thais. Where can they go. You know, the disgruntled ones. I guess they slowly numb to it all just like us falangs and have the odd whinge. 

First goverment need change idiot visa system normal what have ewery other country, NOT need money at bank or minimum salary or other idiot systems, and then change falang/thai prize system normal all same cost. sorry my english but google translator not work good.

I have wondered the same thing many times.  I have come to the conclusion it is an internet thing like the facebook and Instagram and internet dating services.  Partly it is fellows who get scammed by Thai girls online and form a negative view of the country as a result and for the others you'd have to ask whoever knows about internet farming.
