Private Dies After Senior Soldiers Beat Him Into Coma

Featured Replies

My condolences to the family. Seems to me the military needs to purge itself of such cowardly (seniors) soldiers but I suspect that won't happen. Very sad indeed.

RIP young fellow..   I think you would have been a good father.   Just too much of this beating stuff going on. Hope we get to hear of any resolution in this case but somehow I dou

  • How many more young privates have to die before serious changes are made to the military?

  • Really...I hope so, but skepticism is foremost in my mind at present.

Thai mai rak Thai ?

Waiting for Jabba the Hutt to speak in defence of the army. Last time he came out swinging and said some crazy stuff.

He's too senile to know whether they did or didn't.

Too many hits to the head maybe, assuming that's where his brain is housed.

I'm wondering about the Hand on his Arm photo?

Did this young fella marry someone 3 times his age???

Time for the military to clean up their backyard.  However, no doubt they already have a hole dug in the garden where they plan to bury this issue along with all the other 'bodies' that suffered a similar fate.

I agree how about some words from the very very top.

That is one of the saddest photographs I have seen for a long time.

God rest his soul.

It's not really relevant, and takes nothing from the chain of command's responsibility, but I wonder if we have an error in transcription, and it is Lance Corporal (LCpl) rather than Lieutenant Colonel (Lt Col)?

I think they already apologized krup, and they promise to wear some monk orange color for 2 weeks so no worries krup

Im sure his family think the whole event is a load of krup

To be fair, it happens a lot elsewhere too. RIP the young man.

Condolences to his family. I thought comradeship was an integral part of military training - evidently not. RIP.

Especially seeing as they have nobody to fight and don't participate in humanitarian missions in any significant capacity. They are a economic entity more than anything with the top brass (somehow) being among the wealthiest people in the country.

Wonder why the military top brass are among the wealthiest?

Very sad news! This seems to happen way too often in the Armed Forces in Thailand.

This is the reason my son will NEVER claim Thai citizenship. The topic came up again last night with my wife and I showed her a previous article re beatings. Dual citizenship is now firmly off the table. RIP young soldier. Your children will never know their father ?

Why do I seriously doubt that REAL criminal action will be pursued against the killers of this young soldier. Not the first instance of brutal treatment of Army recruits.

Seems like a regular occurrence in the Thai military.  I wonder what the stats are for conscripts being beaten to death by their superiors.  When the military isn't accountable to anyone in Thailand this will probably continue.

Police said the assaulters will be charged with murder.

Good, do it. Words are cheap. Let's see some action, not just talk.

This sad story sends shivers through my spine.

What a pity for all concerned.

3 subordinates on a murder charge & the officer goes free... usual outcome !

I discussed this at my son's school, last week. Both I and the school agreed that the best way forward was for him to join the Army cadets at school which will exempt him from conscription.

Here's just some of the things off the top of my head;

heroin production

heroin distribution

meth amphetamine production

meth distribution and sales

ganga distribution & sales

guns and ammunition illegal sales & distribution

illegal logging

illegal human trafficking

corruption on government purchases for the military

and there's just a start.

Nothing really illegal then, just enough to bolster their take-home pay packet...
