PHUKET:-- With just 12 days to go until the end of his tenure as Governor of Phuket, Norraphat Plodthong yesterday (Sept 18) said that construction of the Phuket light-rail project was expected to commence in 2020.

“Then the whole project will open for service in 2023, approximately,” he said.

Just looking at the mock-up I would agree entirely there are obvious safety issues. But I don't hold out much hope the Governor will see them. I suspect the likes of Governor Norraphatare are not the brightest buttons in the drawer. After all they paid for their jobs and titles.

When you see the traffic chaos caused by the building of one tunnel can you imagine what it'll be like with six?

I think Thepkasattri Road might as well be designated a car park once construction starts!

Trams and cars on the same road.....??

Works in civilised countries, but with lunatics driving on the road in cars and trucks....destined to fail badly.

Can anyone imagine vehicles stopping when the trams stops for passengers to get on and off......we all know the answer!

If you have ever seen the light-rail crossings in the US, you can just imagine the carnage that will happen in Phuket's future.
