Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Prawit Wongsuwon was given a tour by the RTP chief General Chakthip Chaijinda yesterday showing what one of their divisions had been up to in the past year.

The tour was to the TCCC or Transnational Crime Co-ordination Centre.

The DPM was told that the TCCC is responsible in thirteen areas some of which include call center crime, romance scams, online fraud, loan sharking, human trafficking, problems at horse racing tracks, street racers and drugs.

He was told that 160 people were arrested in call center cases involving 119 victims and 24 million baht.

In romance scams there had been 145 cases involving both Thais and foreign criminals and 85 million baht of losses.

Online scams had seen 5,000 people conned out of three billion baht.

There had been a 65% reduction in street racing. Some 91 people in admin on online pages had been arrested for organizing street races. A total of 6,400 motorcycles had been seized and 3,700 other arrests had been made.

So I take it that call centres and romance scams present difficulties for the RTP's business model.

Yeah, just leave it to the 'free trade', they know the form.

Assuming of course the RTP female officers aren't interested in working the romance scams?

There's Big Joke's female translator who we used to see pictured near him. She's a honey, but probably too straight (morally, not sexually).

True, there have been some “successes” but as an outsider looking in, I will celebrate the accomplishments of the police department when I start seeing them improve abolishing  corruption and most of all...out and about patrolling the city’s sidewalks and streets from local citizens that feel they’re above the law and do not have to follow the “rules”.

Maybe he's over it. It's no coincidence he's standing in front of a dark area of the patterned carpet.

Mission accomplished.

Happiness HAS been returned to the people.

I thought only BJ did all the police work in Thailand?

I thought that was something you paid for in Pattaya.

Prawit attends a demonstration of Thai police successes in the last 12 months

A very short demonstration, it would appear, judging by the fact that Porky's eyes are still open . . . just.

Hope the RTP presenter practiced....a lot. It is hard cloaking the truth to the Toad who perfected the art of deception and was quite successful at it until his foray into the political spotlight.

After all these years you still sound quite optimistic Colin, even though we all know the simplest solution does not work here:
