I could not agree more with you and the room pictures (I googled it yesterday) disappeared from their sites. But, as said, in their endless ignorance they had not the slightest clue (again) what they were doing. Remember the Tussaud museum story in Pattaya with Hitler as an exhibit. Upon intervention of the German Embassy they initially claimed, that Hitler at Pattaya's Tussaud outlet would raise the wrong arm - until some higher up power apologized and did away with that "piece of art".

IMHO Buddhist teachings doesn't say you can't kill in self-defense. Ofcourse it's easy to say that "we need to exterminate people x because they want to kill us. It's self defense.." used by perverse leaders throughout history.

And then ofcourse there's a difference between a real Buddhist and one that pretends to be a Buddhist..
