Video: A British pensioner's shame! Stole his neighbor's mattress and cash while he was away

A British pensioner and his Thai wife were led on a reenactment yesterday after they were caught on CCTV stealing their neighbor's mattress and 100,000 baht in foreign currency. 

 

 

Pattaya police chief Pol Col Apichai Krobpetch - who had earlier promised thieves they would be caught this high season - led 72 year old Sidney Michael Edward and his wife Pansakaw Nasoke, 45 to the scene of the crime on beach road Soi 5. 

 

Sidney had forced the doorknob of the next door room belonging to a Mr Stephen aged 66 .

 

When Mr Stephen came back from a trip to Cambodia on Saturday he found that 3,000 UK pounds and his mattress were missing. 

 

 

He immediately went to the cops. 

 

His neighbors immediately fell under suspicion but denied stealing. When they were shown CCTV they had to change their story.

 

Sidney admitted that he stole the mattress and cash - worth about 120,000 baht - and his wife acted as lookout. 

 

 

On the video on Pattaya Online News on Facebook the wife told reporters that the two men were "friends".

 

The police chief also mentioned in the video that the money was 3,000 Euros contrary to press reports it was in pounds. 

 

 

The couple have been charged with theft detained.

You can clearly see it is pounds, so no brownie points for the police chief.

The video is hilarious, seeing the guy on cctv thinking nobody will see him, how stupid he is hahaha, so stupid it's hard to believe this story is true

Because they have not been proven guilty of anything but are put on public display before trial.  The recent allowing of face cover might help an innocent party avoid being forever cast as a criminal in the minds of those that see them.

I don't think he did leave it under the mattress, only a complete idiot would do that.

What I find truly amazing is the resources that are used in the reenactment of this heinous crime. Of course its a good job they can find the manpower from within their 230,000 officer's.

Good thing they cracked down on all those criminal Africans and Indians....oh wait wut....
