Tot Radio Link In Small Villages..?

On a recent bus trip through some small Thai villages, I noticed that

Many houses had a high metal pole with what appeared to be a box on the

Top of it, I got my wife to ask the bus driver what the poles with boxes were

for..? And as far as I could understand, they are some sort of Radio Link

That TOT provide, if you want a phone, but there’s no TOT phone lines in the village

Has any one else seen this type of thing, and I was wondering if they could be used to

Connect to the internet…?
