Immigration police have arrested an American fugitive who is accused of jumping bail on a drug charge in the United States, Immigration Bureau acting commissioner Pol Maj Gen Surachet Hakpal said.

Surachet said Lawrence Ricardo Byrd II, 35, has been arrested at his rented room on Soi Sukhumvit 38 in Bangkok's Klong Toey district after the bureau was asked to track and arrest the fugitive by the US embassy.

Surachet said Byrd was a drug suspect in Georgia, allegedly involved in trafficking marijuana and other drugs in the state.

The Georgia court issued an arrest warrant for his arrest on April 28, 2016, and he was arrested the same month. After being freed on bail, Byrd fled the US and the Georgia court issued an arrest warrant for his arrest on May 10, this year.

Surachet said the Immigration Bureau has recorded Byrd entering and leaving the kingdom several times since August, 2016.

Most recently, he travelled into Thailand on April 16, this year, and was allowed to stay in the kingdom until May 15 but he overstayed the visa by 141 days.

They love their wallcharts don't they. What is the need for the continents of Africa and Asia to have every country or state coloured in.....Anyone hazard a guess as to the main occupation of the owner of the company that produces these....????

Not sure why they don’t have a notification sent out to all international transit exits in the US to tip them off about those arrested who are out on bail. I imagine they have computers, no?

What's with the Americans.  Can't they think of any new names.  So many named after their ancestors.

The most unlikely part of the story is that he knew his father's name.
