Staying at a temple (for a few days' retreat)

I used to hang out at some of the forest temples in my area. They would all welcome me to visit or stay if i wanted. 

 

i lived nearby so never spent a night. if you need more info you can contact me.

 

getting out of tourist areas with"programs" sounds more like what you are looking for but yes the monks in the local country wats and forests are quite welcoming.

Interesting point.  Just playing the devil's advocate here. Is the Temple even registered as a guest house with management advising Immigration of your stay? Does Buddha get an exemption 555? I wonder how the big temples like the spaceship one handle this.  Some of them must have lots of overseas worshipers staying.  And immigration does have its rules to keep us all under observation.

You can live be a quasi monk for stays of 2 weeks a month or? 

Not sure if you’ll find many that speak English. You’ll have to shave your head and that. My wife wants me to go. I’d go for a couple of weeks for the experience
