Video: Chiang Mai red bus driver with a sword goes after man in the street

Footage posted by a man in Chiang Mai showed a red bus (song thaew) driver get out of his vehicle with another man and chase a man in the street.

The driver was allegedly holding a one foot sword and his friend might also have been armed.

The poster of the clip asked for assistance in contacting Pol Lt Charnchai at the Chang Pheuak police who is handling the case.

The poster told Sanook that the incident happened on the Chiang Mai to Lampang road at 4am on Sunday.

He had been eating with a friend at the Khrua Suphan khao tom restaurant and was seeing off his friend who had parked 100 meters away.

Walking back along the half deserted road he said that the driver of the song thaew swore at him and he answered back.

He then parked and ran after him with a sword.

He escaped to the other side of the road.

Netizens argued there must be more to this story and urged the poster to come clean with the real reason.

People who are hungry at 4am.

Another good example of Thai hospitality in Chiang Mai maybe he was a Grab driver and the driver of the song thaew recognized him and thought 4 am was a good time to take care of him as some have said they would .

Some Thais clearly do have long weapons

But even at a foot they don't know how to use it as a rule.

littering , walking in the middle of the road on the path of the approaching songthaew.

Some people are easily angered nowadays.

Anyway time for a weekly clampdown on all drivers of public transportation.

Every tuk tuk , songthaew or taxi driver has a weapon in his vehicle, thats a fact!

75 % of all tuk tuk drivers are drunk after 7 pm.

Look at all these guys drinking in front of the Imperial hotel.

Unfortunately there is nothing done about it.

Maybe the one where the two guys were eating ?

It seems that most "transportation" drivers go to work "tooled up" amazing Thailand !!

Finally I learned why they are luring so many Chinese to the country. It must be a desperate attempt to get rid of the local idiots.

...Ask a silly question...

OH NO, OUR CHARMING, POLITE SONG THAEW DRIVERS WOULD NEVER DO ANYTHING LIKE THAT.

Wonder if these are all ACTORS in the Video, perhaps paid for and produced/directed by those “Evil” folks wanting to introduce CLEAN, AIRCONDITIONED CARS, DRIVEN BY CLEAN INTELLIGENT PEOPLE ?

Confirmed--had a tuk tuk jackhole pull one of these blades on me once--I rebutted with my baton....
