Birth certificate for ED visa? That's going to be a problem (no I'm not illegal but still).

They mentioned a birth certificate as an example of the type of original documents the want to see since the announcement mentions 3 categories of non immigrant visas.

For a non-ed visa that would be the original letters from the school and the ministry of education.

I think they know that they have received forged copies of the required supporting documents for the applications.

They have listed Marriage and Birth Certificates as examples, not the "Type" which might infer "something like".  These documents are personal property and should not be handed over to anyone unless you receive assurance that they will be returned.  Certified copies are legal documents providing they have been assessed by an authorized agent.

You only show them when you submit the application for the visa to prove the copies are real and they are given back to you there and then. No problem to do that.

How does this affect those of us who do not WORK in Thailand? I am retired, have lived in Thailand for three years, and have no intention of ever working again.

No change, then.

Joe, I Know they ( Vientianne ) Don't do,But do YOU think they will EVER Issue a Multi Non-Imm " O " Type Visa, I Won't hold my breath though....

I doubt it. They do not do any multiple entry visas unless the applicant is Laotian or a legal resident.

Hi guys,

I'm new to this visa regulations and due, without any visa, just in on a waiver 30 days which was extended for another 30 days and going to expire this month.

What is the easiest way and where, for me to go and obtain for a NON ''O'' retirement Multiple Entries for a year or even more if possible, without a lot of paperwork hassle??

Pleased to hear and many thanks!

Penang Malaysia if you have 800k baht in the bank or proof of 65k baht income. If you have that financial proof you could apply for a one year extension of stay based upon retirement at immigration.

Great, thanks Joe!

the 800K bank book and copy of it is sufficient, no letter from the bank to confirm required or so?

Just you updated bank book and copies of it. You will also need proof you are  retired. Most people use a income letter from their embassy showing a small amount of income to prove they are retired.

Unfortunately I'm too young to be officially retired by government, in EU the age is 67 now, I'm only 51.....

Sufficient cash and invested funds to take care myself is the only that I can show till I reach 67.

Other options, other Countries read some about Laos Savannakhet??

Don't want to get stuck because can't produce some papers.

That is not required. Just some kind of proof you do not need to work.

Perhaps your embassy you would allow you do a statement that you are retired that would be accepted. All they want is something with a stamp from the embassy on it.

That appears to be from a list of various reasons to apply for a non-o visa. It would not apply in your case since it is for a Thai to apply for a non-o visa.

Basically all that that is needed at most embassies and consulates is your marriage certificate plus a copy, copies of your wife's house book registry and ID card signed by her.

Plus prove of finance and all bankpapers for last 2 months, booked and paid return air-ticket, a paper with the travelplan (visarun) for many months, and much more...

Well here is the whole list, i don't understand all requirements but maybe my english is just not sufficient.

You application is under this.

"2) to provide or receive support from the person whose nationality is Thai or the alien who has been granted and has taken up permanent residence in Thailand as the parents, spouse or child under patronage and being a part of the household of the said person"

Then this needed. " Birth Certificate, Certificate of Marriage or its equivalents (2)"

Then "Evidence of adequate finance" which is normally the equivalent of 20k baht.

It don't see this on the page you posted the link to. That appears to be for a tourist visa

No i really had to bring all that as well. I didn't bring the passport of my wife though (i didn't see that in the list) but i had to go get it asap.

And the 20k baht has to be more than 10k euro....it's a 1 year visa (the non-o multi.) I don't mind showing that money but my wife has much more than that on her account, why can 't they use that as guarantee that i won't start begging?

I was just curious about that passport of partner thingy since i didn't read it in the list.

Another case of a embassy website not showing everything they really want.

I noticed it did not show the Thai nationality proof shown on most sites which could be her passport or copies of her house book registry and ID card.

The 10k euro is about 400k baht which is not the normal financial proof for visa applications.

Well it's just another example of the differences between thai embassies around the world i guess.

Or maybe this is only applicable to my situation, i don't know.

It would be nice if they just wrote to bring a copy of the passport of thai wife when applying for a non-O marriage based so applying goes smooth and fast.

thanks for the advice.
