Keep Maya Bay closed to tourism, says DNP online poll

PHUKET:-- An overwhelming 99.1% of people voting in an online poll by the Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation (DNP) have called for the department to keep both Maya Bay and Loh Samah Bay closed to tourism.

Rescuers fear more dead in Hurricane Michael's path of destruction

MEXICO BEACH, Fla. (Reuters) - Rescue crews confronted with shattered roads, fallen trees and miles of ruins struggled on Friday to get to Florida Panhandle communities hardest hit by Hurricane Michael, saying they expected the death toll of 14 to rise.

Seven Palestinians killed in border protests - Gaza health officials

Facebook now says data breach affected 29 million users, details impact

(Reuters) - Cyber attackers stole data from 29 million Facebook accounts using an automated program that moved from one friend to the next, Facebook Inc <FB.O> announced on Friday, as the social media company said its largest-ever data theft hit fewer than the 50 million profiles it initially reported.

UAE says it has been in touch with UK for months over detained academic

PHUKET: Tsunami evacuation routes for the popular tourist beaches at Patong, Kamala, Kata and Karon, and elsewhere in Phuket’s main coastal areas, are undergoing a full review. The move comes in the wake of the devastating earthquake and tsunami that struck the Indonesian island of Sulawesi on Sept 28, leaving nearly 2,000 people dead, some 5,000 believed missing and more than 74,000 homeless.
