Source: Reuters/VNA BANGKOK, 15th October 2018 (NNT) - Secretary-General of the Election Commission (EC) Pol.Col.Gen.Charungwit Phumma has confirmed that political parties can campaign on social media but they must not defame other people. He said the EC is finding appropriate methods for displaying campaign banners. At a seminar on the general election 2019 by the Thai Journalist Association, the EC secretary-general said the objective of political reform is to improve the standards observed by new political parties. To meet the higher standards, a political party must have at least 500 members and a branch in every region. A political party must have seed money of one million baht and total donations not over 10 million baht per year in order to prevent it from succumbing to the influence of capitalists. Pol.Col.Gen.Charungwit reiterated that online campaigning must comply with rules and regulations imposed by the EC. The EC secretary-general said in building a democratic political culture, people in all areas must be good citizens who abide by laws, respect the rights of other people and actively engage in politics. The EC has set up a democracy promotion center in the sub-district level to educate people about politics and help them practice it accordingly, he added. -- nnt 2018-10-

zzaa09
They're observation skills are a bit altered or non-existent, as "unofficial" campaigning and promotions have been ongoing - from all directions - for months on end.
