BANGKOK, 31 October 2018 (NNT) — The Ministry of the Interior has confirmed continued progress in the execution of the government’s Thai Niyom Yang Yuen project; an official update on this initiative will be publicly announced in November.

The deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of the Interior, Mr. Boontham Lertsukheekasem, who is the assistant secretary general of the committee tasked with directing the Thai Niyom Yang Yuen project, said on Tuesday that all initiatives and activities introduced in this project by various government agencies, have been integrated well and are aimed at addressing economic, social and security problems by focusing on the local economy, the elimination of inequality and public participation.

Mr. Boontham stated that, from February 21 to June 30 - the first phase of the project - there had been four visits to areas, where related activities were implemented, to collect information for an analysis of local peoples’ needs.

He added that all implementations have been making good progress and at least two initiatives will be concluded in December, while at least four others are underway.

Mr. Boontham went on to say that the Ministry of the Interior has already asked relevant agencies to actively publicize updates and news about their activities to the public, in order to encourage their participation before a formal press conference on the progress of the Thai Niyom Yang Yuen project, to be held in November.

This being the project (sustainable Thai-ism) where 200,000 baht is given to every village.

Of course it is progressing well; giving away free money always works well. Particularly when it is unaudited and unaccountable and requires no evidence of outcomes. Thai Niyom  money seems to be given to provincial and village leaders to use on pocket lining "projects" at their discretion.

It's only ever purpose was to be used as populist money to enhance the election prospects of the junta and those who represent it. It was virtually raining cash during the PM's mobile cabinet meetings.

I would be interested to see any empirical evidence you have to sustantiate your claims.

I know for a fact that in the village I live in that this was not the case.

No facts, sorry; I am not privy to the inner working of corruption within the provinces, especially when they get their hands on free money. And I doubt they would tell me if I asked them.

Nonetheless it is very pleasing to hear that your village leader is doing the right thing and putting the village first. He sets an excellent example for other villages and provinces. I hope his demonstration of "doing the right thing" gets some publicity to get the message through to others what they should be doing.

However with most of these Thai Niyom handouts it is difficult to believe that selfishness and greed will be suddenly be put aside and replaced with of honesty and goodwill. After all Thailand doesn't have a high corruption ranking of 96 for no reason.

With Thai Niyom meaning sustainable Thai-ism I am curious to know what it is your leader is doing to improve sustainable Thai-ism in your village.

You might care to read this story about Thai-ism.

Probably is the case for an overwhelming percentage of communities at any level -

Chances are this government philanthropic giveaway are extremely selective and highly limited.

Bogus to suggest that such a program is widespread.

Aside from all this nonsense. most every community I know are self-sustaining adjoining an extended familial/social aspect to their lives - as it's always been.

Never have known junta leadership ever to admit anything but triumph,  even if the triumph not a triumph at all.

Sure.

That's what they do and is their natural calling.

To be assured, the vast majority have never bought into it.

Self censoring. Way to go.

If those running something for people who have ordered it done, ( no transparency or examination of funding) it's always refreshing to hear from the horses mouth that everything is just roses.

Odd considering the current incumbents had such a down on populist policies when they seized office.
