Waves cause roadway erosion in Songkhla

SONGKHLA, 2nd November 2018 (NNT) - Songkhla residents are calling on the Department of Rural Roads to install street lights along the road between Jana district and the municipality to help drivers see at night especially after it has been eroded by strong wave action.

The damage, which occurred on a 10-meter stretch of the road, is likely to worsen as waves continue to erode the shoreline. Without warning signs or street lights, cars are often forced to swerve suddenly to avoid a hole in the road, and some have been forced off the side of the roadway.

Residents have also asked the Department of Rural Roads to construct a retaining wall to prevent further erosion given the current weather conditions. According to the meteorologists, strong waves in the Gulf of Thailand are caused by high pressure systems and heavy rains.

It will happen more and more in future, sea-level is already rising, you will notice with heavy winds and spring tides that the water comes higher

Build a breakaway,  all of stone....it will lessen or slow down the erosion.   Live close to a man-made lake and the edge of the property is starting to erode. paid the locals to rock it concrete it and do the local treatment of this problem... actually, the wall looks rather natural...   sorry no photos..
