Given the report yesterday, that doesn't include raising the standards of English spoken here though. Doing business would be much easier if there was a chance that your potential business partners could understand what you were saying.

You looking at it from the wrong perspective.Since when were Thai interested in anything foreigners had to say?

They nod the head ,smile , say krap and do their own thing

A huge improvement and congratulations must go to the PM and his team working diligently behind the scenes.......:whistling:

Now if they could only allow impartial observers to come in and monitor the voting in the forthcoming elections

Whoa. Please read the report. The ratings have a very different meaning than what most will conclude here on TVF.

The score indicates an economy’s position to the best regulatory practice. The score combines measures with different units such as time to start a company or procedures to transfer a property.  Regulations do not mean consistency or reflect the reality.  The score is relative and if anything further reinforces what we already know: That  it is easier to do business in Australia and New Zealand  than it is in Thailand. we all know it is a nightmare to get things going in mainland China and Vietnam with their left over 1950's bureaucracy and Japan has intentional barriers and obstructions.

1 New Zealand 86.59

2 Singapore 85.24

4 Hong Kong SAR, China 84.22

5 Korea, Rep. 84.14

13 Taiwan, China 80.90

15 Malaysia 80.60

18 Australia 80.13

27 Thailand 78.45

39 Japan 75.65

46 China 73.64

69. Vietnam 68.36

77  India 67.23

He added that the Prime Minister has stressed the government’s recognition of the importance of the reform of all regulations in order to help raise Thai standards to match those adopted by the international community.

Now all he has to do is lower import duties to a reasonable level, on imported wines, luxury items, and the like, and the economy will really start to boom. Too visionary a concept for Little P? Too contrary to the wishes of his masters?

I knew it! He is secretly taking courses to change his image of a boring mar lam serenader to become an internationally recognized rapper now.

Mr. Puttipong said that the PM is delighted although Thailand’s ranking fell to 27 from 26

Clutching straws. Rewarding the under achievers.

It always seem a bit too easy for those dastardly Chinese to open up those toxic recycling plants for all the e-junk flooding in from China. It was alleged there were no environmental approvals issued and that national and local politicians were themselves involved in these illegal factories.

So it seems that the ease-of-doing business in Thailand can be given a big boost by engaging the "help" of bent politicians from within the junta itself.

He is just associating his junta with others work, and that work, we all know, ain't that great.  In four years, he has yet to say or do much that is profound, except save that little dog.   That sums up today's leader of Thailand.  This known by most tourists and Thai alike.

Wait just one minute here... Why is anyone in Thailand happy about the recent report?

Thailand went down in the listing!  That's the wrong direction! There is no improvement WHATSOEVER.
