90 Days problems again

Featured Replies

  • Popular Post

My missus went to do her 90 days thing, and was refused because a stamp in her passport pertaining to my work permit hadn't been signed by Immigration!

No amount of discussion could make immigration sign it, and register the 90 days appearance, it had to be signed by the immigration office in Bangkok where it was issued.

Now since it was Friday lunchtime on the last day of the 90, we had to wait until Monday Morning to go to the Bangkok office, which made us late for signing.

So we got fined 800 Baht. - Which is nothing, but the PRINCIPLE is gnawing at me - Their fault - Our penalty.

  • You report your 90 days to the office of your extension - you have up to 7 days beyond 90 days to report without any fine - 3 days would not equal 800 baht.

  • Fifteen days before the report date or 7 days after including the report date in the count.

I lost my "retirement visa" one year because immigration at swampy stamped the wrong date when I re-entered (which I didn't catch at that time). Then the NEXT time I applied for a re-entry visa, immigration at Jomtien caught the mistake. They even admitted it was the guy at the airport's fault but too bad for me. I then re-entered on a tourist visa and had to start the whole process all over again. Those people at immigration are heartless and no amount of arguing logic will change their minds.

There is no thinking outside the box by Thai people anywhere in Thailand.

Quandow, unfortunately regardless of what problem arise between us farangs and thais, it is always our mistake, because it is always a means of survival to the thais, regardless what it is about.when we are right we are wrong and when we are wrong its the same,pi--ing in the wind.

You appear to have tried to make a 90 day report at an office that didn't issue your extension.

Had you made a formal notification in change of address?

'Their fault' translates to 'your fault' if this was the case.

If only their girls weren't so cute!

UbonJoe. ..slightly off topic but if I get a stat dec signed by my consulate before they cease doing it. ...how long is that "notorised letter " valid for?

Marriage extension renewal due in January 2019.

It has been stated that the immigration will accept them for 6 months. Is your Marriage extension expiring in January 2019 or February 2019? If it is January 2019 then you should apply in December 2018 which is before the consulate ceases to issue the Stat Decs

Ha ha!!  I think what we have here is a scam..

In my similar case I was "fined" 1,000 baht (2 days over at 500 baht per day)

There is no 500 baht a day fine for being late or not doing a 90 day report. It is normally 2000 baht up to a max of 5000 baht.

The 500 baht a day is for overstaying your permit to stay.

Some attitudes and negligences reported here from some of the Thai immigration officers are despicable towards the farang guests in the country. This is not a 4.0 attitude, sorry....but a attitude of a underdevelopped nation with officers harassing and trying to extort money/bribes from foreigners. Sorry if I offend anybody.

Mr Big Joke, as you are surely reading these forums, kindly look into these issues of negligence from your boys.

I believe it's 6 months according to some Police direction to IOs that I've seen somewhere on here, If I'm wrong do please correct me Ubon Joe.

What does any of that matter, either way it was my fault. There was no change of address. We used the same Immigration office we always use. 90 days previous there was no problem. (did get a small fine - but not sure why, still able to do the 90 days)

I have been fined EVERY TIME I VISIT IMMIGRATION, no exceptions. I never know (except in one case) why I am being fined.

We have decided that we will ALWAYS leave the country (Hong Kong, Vientiene, Singapore - ANYWHERE) just before the 90 days is up, and have a weekend away. On our return we start the 90 days again.

The days of submitting a 90 day report at an office where you are not registered as living and obtained your extension from are long gone.

You must now make the 90 day reports at the office which issued your extension, which will be the same as your registered address …………. unless you formally register a new address with the new IO.

You admit to using two different offices and that may be the reason behind the fines.

Do they state the reason for the fine and issue a receipt?

Did you get a receipt for the fines? If not then it was not a legitimate fine.

Can't you do postal reporting for your 90 report?  I do postal and never have a problem.. except one time a few years ago when I forgot to send it in!

If you entered and have stayed in the Country before 1998, then yes.

If not, then no.

You would have to be at least 80 years old now, so at 70 you certainly don't qualify for that option.

(6) An alien who entered the Kingdom before October 21, 1998 and has been
consecutively permitted to stay
in the Kingdom for retirement shall be subject to the following
criteria:
(a) Must be 60 years of age or over and have an annual fixed income with fluids
maintained in a bank account for the past three months of no less than Baht 200,000 or have
a monthly income of no less than Baht 20,000
(b) If less than 60 years of age but not less than 55 years of age, must have an annual
fixed income with funds maintained in a bank account for the past three months of no less
than Baht 500,000 or have a monthly income of no less than Baht 50,000

Not unless you were 60 years old in 1998 and applied for an extension of stay based upon retirement prior to October of that year and have been on one since then.

I work for a Thai Company. We have many offices in Thailand, I work at all of them at different times. I registered as living at the Company Bangkok Address initially, which made sense as that was where my Work Permit was issued. It would help to understand EXACTLY what is the purpose of the 90 day sign on. If it is so they can always find / contact you, then obviously the Work Address would be unbeatable. However this does not appear to be the case. I signed on at various offices no problem (except minor fines for lateness - fair enough) However 6 months ago that all changed. Now we are registered at an address of a member of staff, in Bangkok. I am trying to get our HR department to sort this out finally. Since we arrived in Thailand we have always lived at the same address, HOWEVER our landlady is married to a foreigner and lives abroad. No chance of contacting her for papers she knows nothing about because the law changed after she left, and I do not know where she is (except for the country) I have her bank details in Thailand - where she still has an account - they will have no idea where she is either. So hence the difficulty.
