Derek B
The Chinese have enough money to fly further a field reducing fees to zero for a limited time will achieve nothing at such short notice. There is more to see & experience than Thailand they have simply moved on to other areas like Europe. The immigration arrival process for the Chinese tourists needs to be conducted in China before flying to reduce the arrival queues at Thai International Airports (BKK, DMK, CNX & UTP). lespaulTV
Any country must be careful about hedging all there bets on China especially tourism. Any diplomatic spat with bully China will result in massive boycott, just ask Taiwan and some town in South Korea.Of course Thailand will bow down like they never bow before to China. natway09
This will maybe give Big Joke more chance to catch the criminals who love Thailand. Just walked down to Foodland in lower Sukhumvit in daylight & cannot help but notice the increase in filth on the sidewalks & overpasses that stink of urea. Rubbish everywhere along with watching 5 tourists nearly get killed crossing as a bus driver decided that the red light was not there for public service vehicles. The policeman in the box did not bat an eyelid . Oh Thailand, what has become of you?????

The passport must be genuine and should be valid for at least 30 days. You must have a valid address in Thailand whether a hotel or apartment that can be verified. You must have a confirmed return ticket to show that they are flying out of Thailand within 15 days of entry, as appropriate. Open tickets do not qualify. Travelling overland out of Thailand by train, bus, etc to Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia (including en route to Singapore), Myanmar, etc is not accepted as proof of exiting Thailand. You may be asked to show your flight ticket on entering Thailand. If you do not possess a flight ticket to show that you will be exiting Thailand within 15 days of entry you will be most likely refused entry. It will also be necessary to prove that you have funds of at least 10,000 THB per person and 20,000 THB per family during your stay in Thailand. A fee of 2,000 THB is payable upon entry and is subject to change without notice. It must be paid in cash and Thai currency only. However, persons who are not eligible to enter Thailand under the VISA ON ARRIVAL and VISA EXEMPTION RULE are advised to obtain visas with the Royal Thai Embassy prior to their visit. * List of countries eligible for the Visa on Arrival: Andorra Bulgaria Bhutan China Cyprus Ethiopia Fiji India Kazakhstan Latvia Lithuania Maldives Malta Mauritius Papua New Guinea Romania San Marino Saudi Arabia Taiwan Ukraine Uzbekistan Thank you, JamJar. 21 hours ago, CALSinCM said: More appropriately, "The Cabinet is today considering a proposal from the Immigration Department to waive visa on arrival fees for tourists from China, including 21 other countries, Deputy Prime Minister Somkid Jatusripitak said." --slide whistle, cymbal crash-- Or, "for tourists from China and 20 other countries". Media1
Some of the worst picks could only come this administration lol. Furthermore the Thais dont see much money from them and they must really dislike intelligent westerners. Keep degrading the countries with unroadworthy pollution body haulers and those lovely Chinese. The roads are crumbling to a dangerous level. The pollution is unbelievable with little or no law enforcement on vehicles. You are really lost. A new admin will be a god sent offering. Am I missing something? 2017 2.2 million through airport but 2.5 million Chinese to Pattaya last year (2017). The article does not denote that the 2.5 million thru the airport in 2017 were strictly Chinese. Seems like someone is playing a bit loose with the numbers. observer90210
It would be a much better incentive to stop the senseless 90 day reporting and stop the re-entry permit requirements for the quality retirees and expats in Thailand.
balo
Sad to hear this , it will only bring in more 0 baht tourists who will not spend a lot of money. Immigration let them in and at the same time they kick out retired people who contribute to the economy but receive a lower pension than 65k. Very sad how this is going.
