So a woman hands over money obviously intended to pay off corrupt officials then complains when it doesn’t work. I’m not feeling very sympathetic, it’s just another symptom of how broken the system is where people try to game it with bribery. -

Under Thai law you have no rights if you are not legally married to the mother. That has been clearly told to me by a Thai Judge. Note this was in 2022, so unless the law has changed since then it still stands. -

Many thanks for your thoughts and so sorry to hear about your consequential problems. I hope that you are at least now stable and in remission 🙏 My last scan had it a low ebb, so I was recommended 3 to 5 years for next scan and I'm a few months inside that window. I am certainly fully aware of potential problems and do try to stay on top of this. As you rightly say better to err on the conservative proactive side. I'll be better set moving forward for subsequent checks once I have this done for the first time in Thailand. Failing any recommendations, I will probably start with Bangkok Pattaya next week and see what they quote. Very best wishes with your progress moving forward 🙏 -

I'd advice not to lock in long rental until he checks out the area, place, security and noise. Hostels are worst, you never can leave anything there! Or maybe only if they have steel lockers and you got your own lock. If he uses agents he should only pay for couple of night and then, if he likes it, make a deal direct with the owner. I've saved thousands on USD doing that during years. It works 90% time if the owner is Thai. Later if/when I return I get same deal directly. -
