webfact
PM to focus on 4.0 developments and economic ties while in Germany FILE photo BERLIN, 28th November 2018 (NNT) – The Prime Minister has been warmly welcomed on an official visit to Germany and is today (November 28) scheduled to meet with the country’s Chancellor to discuss partnerships in all areas, as well as to study the country’s 4.0 industries. Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-ocha received a warm welcome from Thai citizens in Germany and local residents upon arrival at the Hilton Berlin on the first day of his two day official visit to the country yesterday (November 27). The PM is today meeting with Chancellor Angela Merkel to discuss a variety of partnerships and strategic economic collaborations with a focus on having Germany help drive Thailand's 4.0 agenda. The Kingdom is seeking Germany’s assistance in acknowledgement that the country is among the world’s largest economies and is a leader in industrial progress. It is hoped that through exchanges with Thai entities, German 4.0 policies can be concretely applied in Thailand to foster progress. The PM also intends to encourage further trade and partnerships within the business sector, especially in Thailand’s Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC), where it will be basing electric car plants. Discussions will extend to restarting the European Union-Thailand free trade agreement talks and free trade agreements with ASEAN. Gen Prayut has resolved to build good relations between Thailand and Germany and between the country and ASEAN, while Thailand undertakes the ASEAN Chairmanship in 2019. He intends to invite Germany to join the Ayeyawady-Chao Phraya-Mekong Economic Cooperation Strategy (ACMECS) to further boost its sustainability. Later in his trip, the PM will speak to members of the German private sector and invite them to invest in the EEC. He will in particular present the corridor’s opportunities for SMEs in the auto parts and electronics sectors. -- nnt 2018-11-

Popular Post Ossy
Prayuth may possibly win on the dress fabric stakes but on everything else, he'll be like a David, trying somehow not to appear too stupid alongside the Goliath that is Angela Merkel. 3

Popular Post DrTuner
Sure sure, but Germans are a wee bit averse to those that usurp the power and start treating the country as their hostage. For somewhat apparent reasons. Edited November 28, 2018 by DrTuner Image
Popular Post Eligius
'Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-ocha received a warm welcome from Thai citizens in Germany ....' God, talk about selective reporting! I have heard from a highly educated Thai just today that there was a demonstration in Germany of Thais who came from various neighbouring countries just to protest against the junta leader. They blared out the 'Brateht guu mee' rap song. How wonderful! Music to the ears of many of us indeed! But far from warm by Merkel. Zero coverage in main stream media. I watched a video of the welcome speeches on a government page. Merkel gave clear messages: free political activity for the parties, free and fair elections, free speech, press freedom. ASAP AFTER that has been accomplished we can ... (misc improvements of relation). Merkel's speech was very uninspired, reading from the sheet, not even able to pronounce Prayut's name correctly, stumbling. "Praejut". Short handshake, routine photo in front of the flags and off we go. Sour face as usual and obviously happy to have it finished. Prayut's speech in Thai without substantial content (simultaneously translated to German). Democracy did not come over his lips. He took a "students attitude", we have to learn etc. He praised Merkel's achievements in migration and climate protection.
