One of the best Vietnam anti-war song lyrics.

Great comment in the comment section for this vid.

"When I came home from CU-CHI Vietnam in 1970 My cousin gave me a John Prine record. I thought there was something wrong with me because when I heard this song I was the only one crying."

I grew up during the Vietnam war, as I'm sure many here did as well.  My class was the last to have to register for the draft.  Being a German citizen I had a green card, but had lost the card.  When I went to register the green card came up and when I told them I didn't have one they replied, "Well, we can't register you then."  I was fine with it, and left it at that.  I certainly was't for the war, nor any war.  Bloody waste, in my humble opinion.  Though I never went to Nam the war had a lasting impact on me, and I'm sure many other Americans.  That's why the lyrics to this song kinda cut to the bone for me  I never thought about it until now but how did the Nam war impact young people in the UK at the time?  I know it's an off topic question but just curious.

The insane evil of war. America is perpetually at war.

Doubt not, there were UK anti Vietnam war protests.

These days it seems most U.S. wars are fought using coalitions.  That way other countries get to share in the pain that the U.S. creates.  Fortunately the Vietnam war didn't militarily involve the U.K.  Anyway, not wanting to go off topic.  Thanks for the reply, talahtnut.
