SYDNEY (Reuters) - The Australian parliament's lower house passed a bill to force tech firms such as Alphabet Inc's Google, Facebook and Apple to give police access to encrypted data on Thursday, pushing it closer to becoming a precedent-setting law.

WELLINGTON (Reuters) - New Zealand released a defense policy statement on Thursday calling climate change its greatest security threat and stressed the importance of the issue to the geostrategically contested Pacific region, which is seeing increased influence from China.

Seven injured as fireworks shoot into audience

A 47-year-old Thai man sustained serious burns and six others suffered minor injuries when fireworks, being lit near a pond in Wat Jumphon in Surin's Muang district as part of a local festival, exploded into the audience on Wednesday night.

PHUKET:-- The dolphin that was receiving care at the Phuket Marine Biological Centre (PMBC) after being recovered from Nai Yang Beach last Friday has died, and now marine life experts are casting doubt on whether or not the dolphin vomited plastic while in care earlier this week.
