rooster59 Posted December 9, 2018 Posted December 9, 2018 BAAC pays some 46 billion baht in rice subsidy to 3.4 million farmers Tanakorn Sangiam BANGKOK, 8 December 2018 (NNT) - The Bank for Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives (BAAC) has paid some 46 billion baht in subsidy for rice harvesting and quality improvement to about 3.4 million farmers. BAAC's Senior Executive Vice President Sarayoot Yimyuan revealed the bank has paid the subsidy for the rice harvesting and quality improvement for 2018-2019 season, by 1,500 baht per rai for up to 12 rai of farmland, or up to 18,000 baht per household. As of 6 December 2018, the BAAC has transferred to some 3.42 million farmers the combined sum of 46.65 billion baht, covering 31.1 million rai of rice farms. However, a total of 633,397 farmers are yet to receive the subsidy at a later date due to late harvest or adverse effects of natural disasters. The subsidy campaign aims to encourage farmers to improve the quality of their rice without the need to sell it at early stage so that its value can be increased. The campaign has targeted 4.05 million farmers, covering 38 million rai of farms with a 57.72 billion baht budget. -- nnt 2018-12-09

cracker1 Posted December 9, 2018 Posted December 9, 2018 Does anyone know how the payment gets to the farmers bank account ? What is the procedure to claim the subsidy ?
ReMarKable Posted December 9, 2018 Posted December 9, 2018 So how did they get the loan? What about Yingluck not getting a loan for the same thing. It was corrupt then, must be now. How does the bank make any money on this or is bank just a term for tax savings that are disbursed without restraint?
Lupatria Posted December 9, 2018 Posted December 9, 2018 What's wrong with you guys? Nobody informed me the Shins returned... 1
Redline Posted December 9, 2018 Posted December 9, 2018 Looks like someone should be going to prison? Or, is this allowed by those white rule by force, and not by elected officials? Who is monitoring all the transactions of this government?

That sounds expensive vote buying; even by Thaksin standards. Still it's only taxpayer money, who cares? Certainly not the junta. For them it's like the Thai Niyom money and all the other handouts they have come out with in the last few weeks in their desperate play to gain popularity.

joecoolfrog Posted December 9, 2018 Posted December 9, 2018 Well that surely proves the point that Yingluk was prosecuted for who she was , rather than what she did. 2
