I'd have a guess the Bangkok post is nearer to the truth, the Benz hit the stationary car thus throwing the two males over the barrier!

I would guess, as is so common here, the Benz was going excessively fast in the hard shoulder and then plowed in to the truck. You see it all the time on the expressways.
