Prime Minister Gen. Prayuth Chan-ocha with Chinese President Xi Jinping on Sept. 4, 2017, at the BRICS summit in Xiamen, China.

BANGKOK — The Foreign Ministry on Tuesday issued a statement rejecting criticism that the kingdom has become too close to China at the expense of its ties with the European Union and the United States.

It came after former deputy prime minister Pridiyathorn Devakula made the remarks Monday. Pridiyathorn served as a deputy leader after the 2014 coup under junta head Gen. Prayuth Chan-ocha.

He and all of his clowns seriously needs to be thrown out by their ears. China will just run all over Thailand and make them a China kiss a** slave. China has no intention to be friends on a mutual level with any country. Disdain for China and the clowns running this country comes to mind.

Translated: "If you threaten us with sanctions, we'll distance ourselves from China.  But for the time being, we'll attempt to play both side off the center.  Sorta like India."

In his four+ years of office the PM has made a habit of swanning around the world making a nuisance of himself with foreign leaders without having much to show for it. Meeting up with German Chancellor Frau Merkel was a classic example.

Meeting frau Merkel is like meeting.........

Being a country situated near China is like walking a tightrope.

Careful, very careful, like Thailand's neighbours do.

All politicians, probably in your own country also, are the same.

Yeah but the junta has no common sense in real Governing and if not sooner than later will be kowtowing faster than they can say my anus hurts.

The Chinese are much too smart for Prayuth and his clowns. The Chinese have a long term plan and Prayuth and the military ignorance is their best pawn.

I disagree about their ignorance and incompetence being the best thing from China's point of view. Arguably it is their willingness to sell out their country without a fight, to bend over for the stronger invader that is the most important asset the Chinese have. Look at how the military sold out to the Japanese and let them run wild with no restraint. And don't forget there are still Nationalist Chinese warlords in Northern Thailand operating with impunity.

Not with China at present. But I haven't lived in my own country for almost a few decades, and as long as I am able to live with my family- wife and kids etc here and they don't get harder on us, I will cut some slack. But by the it looks of it they are definitely make it rougher on the expats.

It's easy to issue a statement....what actions have you taken? Compare those to what you are doing with China.
