Sad to see an every day American style family tragedy in Thailand.

I was thinking the same thing, and I am from America. Horrible.

Don't ever ever try to be funny and crack a joke...that's like playing with a hand grenade.

At least, the girls(?) only want your money!

Laws wont stop crazies, thats why they are crazy

Nope.

Laws-and their enforcement- are everything.

Good try-but unlike some of your peers here I simply deem you as a total intellectual fraud.

And I  am totally disinterested in the life and career of an agent provocateur of the Okhrana either

Lack of any effective law enforcement over the past 20 years or so has seen a proliferation of firearms, drugs etc. on a prolific scale. It seems that every Somchai and his dog are tooled up, which doesn't bode well for the future.

Like in the USA?

Nope. The OP is referring to a shooting tragedy in Thailand to which I responded so your comment is irrelevant.

Have you been here 20 years? Do you remember Taksin's war on drugs?

Which right thinking in-laws would like to welcome such moron?

Probably didn't get the nod from the censores. If the killer was a farang, you could have read it in every paper in letters big enough to read the story from the other side of the road.

Early days but that will probably rank up there with the daftest comments of 2019.

And TSF is located in Pattaya , now there is a nice crime free zone.

Seems the family were quite a good judge of character ! RIP to the innocent ones.

Extensive and careful analysis of the crime scene as always applied by the BIB, their findings are always infallible. Seems you are unaware of the high level of crystal ball gazing that these guys are trained to carry out.

And it seems you are unaware of the high level of the information the BIB gathered from the brother in law who survived the shooting. RIP to the victims.

More than 20 years and yes.

I've been here 30 years and only ever seen one incident of a shooting.

How many have you seen?

He shot himself before they arrived.

They called in a monk and he spoke to the man's ghost.  That's What I heard.

I have no comprehension as to how someone can kill family over something so trivial. I realize that the USA has suffered mass murders in schools but this horrific act is something different, at least from my point of view. And why was he carrying a gun anyway? My sympathy to the surviving wife...I cannot imagine the mental anguish she will suffer.

Witness statements? Pretty obvious to me.

drink drunk and guns do not mix in the LOS.killed the family  and himself, otherwise life in the bkk hilton would have being short i imagine

Sad to concur with this but my god it’s so true. Thai males seem to me to all be total a/holes and this one the biggest of the lot.

What a crock of shit and a gross over generalization of Thai men. I have many good friends who are Thai men, some who have had some severe romantic difficulties. None have gone off their rocker over it. To a person, they are all even tempered and gentle people. If you really want to be afraid of nutball men with guns, go to the USA.

Some types are just so fast to slag off Thais. These are usually sexpats who  don't integrate into Thai society and are bitter old men.

I was not slagging off Thais. I am not a "sexpat" or a bitter old man and I am fairly well integrated into Thai society. Congratulations - You have just made it to my ignore list.

Unlike America, Thailand must make it really, really hard to get both guns and dangerous drugs too. But also must provide more mental health care and counselling too as progressive EU countries do. Poverty inequality, drugs & shootings go together.

Another tragic instance of someone who would seem to have had mental health issues.
The government needs to invest in providing support to vulnerable people, so we can slow this almost daily reporting of someone doing a vicious act because of a deranged mental state. There are too many unbalanced people here grabbing guns or knives seeking revenge for the most trivial of matters. Road rage, feeling disrespected, marital issues, grab a weapon and let's get even.

Who knows it could eventually be safe to live here.

I think this is the tip of the iceberg, the media is one of them, etc. The soap dramas, don't portray real life, they hyp-up the life styles of the rich and famous, and the folks on the streets don't seem to comprehend!. Further across borders casinos, are booming with no regulations as border crossing by Thais don't require passports. There  folks losing their lives, by pawning everything they have!

Another terrible tragedy here in Thailand. Shocking that he killed his own children! I've been retired here now for 18yrs & during that time I've only one real male acquaintance. With him, even today, I have to be very careful with what I say & be constantly aware that if I speak out of turn it can cause an immediate confrontation, hence I could never call him a real friend. I've seen it so often here when anger turns to extreme violence ......... the mindset here with Thai males is flashpoint & you'll never see it coming unless you have experienced it in the past. I think generally that most Thai's have this "loss of face" mindset & part of their culture, farang's therefore must be aware of this to avoid any form of confrontation. There are many types of Thai smiles ............. just make sure you know the one's that are friendly. Thailand is called "The Land of Smiles" for a reason ........ take care everyone.

That's what happens when the boys are dumped to the grannies care and given free berth with zero discipline, they aren't able to deal with daily reality. This country has a long, looooooong way to go.

Leave then.

One more Thai retard Mummi Boy.....feels too little attention for him.....disgusting! Thanksfully he's shot himself.

It is about pissed individuals=so drunk and stupid as to defy all forms of civilized behaviour.

Thailand specializes in drunken,pissed behaviour.

Best of luck when you ask for your drunink'.pissesd Thai brother in law for the money that he owes you.

Put a bit of perspective for tourists or expats around this... so, I can't marry a Thai man and let my Thai family drive him crazy. Ok, I think I can get by without doing something like that.

These sorts of incidents are almost unheard of in Thailand. They are the daily standard in the United States which has draconian laws and heavy policing. All the insane laws in America don’t seem to be doing much good in this regard. Murder rates in the US have never been higher.

More and effective law enforcement is not the solution. This is all just the inevitability of capitalism and unfortunately the American way is slowly taking over Thailand. There is no answer for Godless culture where feelings of greed, envy, jealousy, and hatred begin to take over the human spirit. This is what capitalism does, it drives people over the edge. It’s not drugs, it’s not guns, it’s not lack of effective policing. It’s capitalism.

Thailand has remarkably low levels of violent crime given its poverty levels and I’ve always contributed that to Buddhism. But the almighty dollar is a powerful thing and has a way of promoting a Godless culture where people no longer fear things like Karma and the afterlife. Their God becomes money and when that happens, you get a lot more violent crime.

Geez, if I took out a gun and shot everyone everytime I was ignored by my girl's family,  well, it would be everytime I see them... ????
