Featured Replies

More than 500 remains of Vietnamese soldiers were found in 2018 and repatriated home, according to report issued yesterday by the Defence Ministry. Ministry spokesman General Chhum Sucheat said that in 2018, the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces cooperated with Vietnamese researchers to find the remains of their soldiers.

He added that as the result, 590 remains left in Cambodia between 1979 and 1989 were found. He added that in the special military region around Phnom Penh, 52 remains were found. Region 1, covering the northeast section of the country, had 36 remains.

For the southeast covering Region 2, 207 remains were found. Region 3, which is in the southwest part of the country, had 135 remains. Military regions 4 and 5, covering the northwest section of the country, had 92 remains and 68 remains respectively. Gen Sucheat also said the report noted that the Defence Ministry prevented and cracked down on 5,193 border crimes in 2018, including 2,497 crimes along the Cambodian-Thai border and 1,250 and 1,446 along the Vietnamese and Lao borders respectively.

They saw an appalling situation. The US backed genocidal regime was out of control.

The Vietnamese fixed it.

I once had a wonderful conversation with a North Vietnamese regular (then 74 years of age) and the only English he knew was "a miss is as good as a mile!"-which alluded to the white psychopaths above rather than the enemy on the ground.

The conversation was en Francais,

It would have been helpful had you explained why the Vietnamese invaded and liberated Cambodia. It is recorded that Pol Pot and his bloodthirsty Khmer Rouge conducted cross-border raids into Vietnam, massacring, raping and pillaging civilians and torching villages and even occupied the island of Phu Quoc.

Another interesting fact is the Khmer Rouge and Thai relationship developed in 1978 which was built upon a mutually lucrative cross-border trade in lumber and gems and a mutual fear of neighbouring Vietnam. It is also claimed the Royal Thai Army's Task Force 838 worked secretly among the Khmer Rouge and served as the rebels' liaison to the Thai military.

Very interesting article thanks.

Quote: "Hun Sen came to power with the Khmer Rouge and served as a Battalion Commander in the Eastern Region of Democratic Kampuchea (the state name during the Khmer Rouge government). In 1977, during internal purges of the Khmer Rouge regime, Hun Sen and his battalion cadres fled to Vietnam.[17] [18][better source needed]

Hun Sen became one of the leaders of the rebel army and government that the Vietnamese government sponsored when they prepared to invade Cambodia. When the Khmer Rouge regime was defeated, Hun Sen was appointed as Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of the Vietnamese-installed People's Republic of Kampuchea/State of Cambodia (PRK/SOC) in 1979"
