On the Thai immigration website under the details for supporting a family member being a child it lists the financial requirements as:

(5) In the case of parents, the father or mother must maintain an average annual income of no less than Baht 40,000 per month throughout the year or must have deposited funds of no less than Baht 400,000 to cover expenses for one year.

Significantly, it make no mention of a seasoning period, which it does for supporting a Thai wife.

Has anyone actually obtained an extension to support a Thai child and confirm about the financials.

It is the same as for a wife. Been through it, a nightmare. I opted to do retirement. I probably used a tree trunk in paper since I first applied. Retirement is much simplier.

No. it is quite straight forward and yes, the money does not have to be seasoned. Retirement is not simpler, this is.

As far as I know, you can not extend a multi-entry based on being a parent? The single entry doesn't work for all.  To get one for me in my home country there was only a question of a bank statement equals 200k.No question of income.

You are discussing a Visa obtained at a Thai Consulate - yes?

That is a different issue to an "extension of permitted stay" obtained at an immigration office in Thailand.

Correct on the "no seasoning" - at least officially, as every office can make up whatever rules it wants.  A new trick, is to demand you re-prove the money in the bank when coming back to get your extension-stamp, after the 30-day approval-period.  Sometimes they don't get it done in 30-days, so could be 60.

Are you joking? Photograps with your child in your home, school, outside your home. Your child has to come out of school to attend and be seen by immigration official also your wife. Everything including blue books and id's, copies of your childs birth certificate, evidence that you are the father, money in the bank. A bloddy nightmare. Then you have to return another day for the decision. Retirement, 2 hours with waiting and little paperwork and decision. Unless you paid for a better service that is just a small part of the procedure. Seasoning period 2 months. Unless you do monyhly.

Maybe in your case. However in my case it was a nightmare. A lot of preperation. I made my application at Changwattana, Bangkok. It msy slso make a difference where you make your application and the type of officer that deals with your case.
