Mobile operators AIS, DTAC and True are offering free 50 minutes of voice calls and 1GB of free Internet for people in Nakhon Si Thammarat from January 4 to 6.

The National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) met with the three operators on Friday night to address the communication fault problem in the area.

Around 200 of a total 5,400 AIS stations in Nakhon Si Thammarat and another 20 station in nearby areas were switched off. AIS brought 100 power generators to the area.

Meanwhile, 210 of 4,519 True stations and about 180 of 4,400 DTAC stations in Nakhon Si Thammarat and another 37 stations in nearby areas were switched off.

The offer began at 10pm on Friday and runs until 12pm on Sunday.
