Hi,

If work permit/visa will expire in 3 months, the person will resign from work tomorrow (with 30 days notice), and if the employer will not bother to cancel the work permit/visa. After 2 more months the work permit/visa expired but did not cancelled. What is the implication? Would it be a problem in the future if the person apply for another work permit?

Thanks!

A employer cannot cancel a work permit without you giving power of attorney to them to do it.

If you have a 90 day visa entry it will not be canceled. If on an extension of stay you have to be at immigration with your passport to have it.done.

If the work was not canceled you could be fined for not doing.

If an extension is not formally cancelled some immigration office have insisted that if be done before they will issue a new one.

The visa is issued together with work permit and type of visa is non-immig "IB". So the expiry date of visa and work permit are the same. 2 years. Although, got the visa first on 90 days validity, so the visa 2 years validity maybe an extension of the first one with 90 days. Let say it is an extension but already expired, should it still have to be cancelled?

Another question is, can a person do the cancellation of work permit by himself without participation of the employer? Meaning, just go to one stop visa center and request to cancel work permit.
