Between a fast rising political and economic powerhouse China and disinterest and inward looking USA, obvious Thailand will pivot for economic gains and security. Thailand can always switch political patronage when the White House change administration and pivot back to Asia Pacific. 

Please note China does not have a Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, the US does
