Siem Reap Provincial Police on Tuesday arrested an Australian tourist who allegedly sexually abused six boys, aged 11 to 14, in Siem Reap city. Colonel Chea Heng, provincial Anti-Human Trafficking and Juvenile Protection Department chief, yesterday identified the suspect as Mulroy Garry Paul, 69, living in a rental house in Slor Kram commune. He said that Mr Mulroy was arrested on Tuesday by provincial anti-human trafficking police at his rental house following a complaint by the victims.

. .

“After his arrest, he became sick and was sent to the provincial referral hospital for treatment,” Col Heng said. “He is still in the hospital.” He added that Mr Mulroy will be sent to the provincial court for questioning after he recovers. Khoem Vando, a child protection specialist with APLE Cambodia, yesterday said that according to his organisation’s investigation, Mr Mulroy in November last year persuaded the six boys, who are from poor families, to have sex with him in exchange for food and money.

If he is found guilty - give him life with no protective custody.

Unconfirmed but I'm fairly sure nanny state 'protective custody' isn't common in Cambodia.

He realistically may be looking at years of unprotected action, while in custody.

Well , maybe more information is needed before we hang him.

But if guilty he can stay in a Cambo jail for a long time. For the rest of his life most probably.

If true, then he was sick before the arrest.  I'd have preferred he was given treatment earlier.

True, .................... but no girls in this picture. Why would you only have boys around you if you were just 'helping kids'?

And having just visited the Facebook page - no girls there either. No doubt in my mind - turd tickler!

Looks more like he was running a boys home but very weird indeed.

There are some pictures with him and some Australian visitors, looks like they belong to the same catholic organization.

Homosexual sick pedophile possibly. Likes only boys.

Doesn’t like females.

I also noticed the absence of any females as well and it seems very odd.

He should be well aware that his actions could be misinterpreted even if they were honourable in a country such as Cambodia.

Also, what qualifications does he have to go off adopting young boys and ' allegedly ' taking care of their welfare?

There are too many of these unchecked samaritans going around willy-nilly and taking it upon and promoting themselves as self-appointed saviours of the poor.

There are well-documented cases of sexual abuse and bad behaviour over many years that has taken place in S.E. Asian nations by foreigners, and people are obviously going to be suspicious.

From his Facebook page he was a teacher in Aus , he posted pictures of himself with the students , both male and female.  He also has many female friends on Facebook who posted comments on his pictures , very positive comments.

So they look at him as some sort of samaritan.

But an old man , single, living in Cambo , surrounded with young boys.

He really asked for it , if he is innocent he must be very naive.
