I now have over 90 days in "30 day" permission stamps (within 6 months) but the actual count is around 60 days. Looking for some feedback on this question, is Thai Immigration counting the actual DAYS we stay in Thailand or only the number of 30 day permission stamps in the passport?

I used to come to Thailand and spend about a week and then fly to the P.I. or Laos, anywhere, and return to Thailand for another week. This would give me two 30 day permission stamps on one trip - but actual time in Thailand would be less than 18 days. I don't do do this "trip withing a trip" thing anymore to keep the stamp count down. I don't reside in Thailand and stay away for at least 30 to 60 days now to cut down on permission stamps too!

Bottom line, will Thai Immigration count the permission stamps or actual days in country?

Thank you.

The count is DAYS since 1st October, when the new rule came into force.

You are allowed 90 days.
