When the army gets ousted, and sent out to pasture during the next election, the new administration must do everything in it's power to revise the constitution, or toss it completely. And those 250 totally compromised, bought and paid for NCPO senators need to be retired, forever. Thailand has no need for them, the people do not want them, and Prayuth will be long gone, one can only hope. The army overstepped all boundaries of decency, and patriotism, by committing this utter act of desperation. They demonstrated just how thirsty they are for power and fortune, and the people despise them for it. They need to be completely removed from all aspects of life, here in Thailand. The only thing they are good for, is maintaining the 12 million rai of land they own, training young boys to be obedient, and preventing the neighbors from planning a major incursion. LOL. In other words, next to nothing.

 

GET OUT. Get out now. You are not wanted. You are not needed. You are not useful. You are not competent. You are hated by your people, and your xenophobia is forcing alot of good ex-pat men to leave forever, thereby harming the economy, and in my opinion the culture, as outside influence can only improve the nation, in this age of globalization. You are moving Thailand backwards at a breath taking pace.

The only thing they are good for, is maintaining the 12 million rai of land they own -- can't  argue with that, the military camps I've been on are well maintained.

This amazing development might be the only way to cut the Gordian knot that the Thai elite has entangled themselves with and it may be a way of saving face after the abyss of the last 5 years.

 

Whilst the future under an alternative PM might be full of unknowns we all know the future under the green mob..

Looks like PPRP will be renamed as PPRIP after being decimated in the election. I give them nothing more than 20 seats. Prayut will end up as a biter old grandfather. As for Prawit. I suggest atonement in the temple for a long time.

True, but the law in question does not require the insulted party to file a complaint. Anybody can file a complaint on behalf those protected by the law, and the courts deal with the matter from a guilty until proven innocent perspective.

imho If that truly is the case then there is no point having an election, just do an appointment. In a way it's a similar situation as the one presently Thailand is in (whether it would be a title or a gun). imo Once you have entered the arena of politics you are fair game or it isn't a fair game (see sentence above).

Strange that so many see this as a great day for democracy. While it may see the end of Prayut, and note the article someone posted earlier as to why that assumption may be premature, that still does not mean that this alternative is going to take the country to a better place. There are enormous dangers associated with what it looks like is going on here.

I agree. This is a chance to get rid of Prayut, no more coups, Thaksin and Yingluck amnesty and back to prosperity.
