Disney's latest Aladdin trailer unveils Will Smith as the blue Genie for the first time.

The live-action film's trailer dropped during the Grammys on Sunday night (February 11), also revealing a look at the villainous Jafar (Marwen Kenzari), Princess Jasmine (Naomi Scott), Aladdin (Mena Massoud), and the city of Agrabah.

Smith previously explained that he wanted to bring a "hip-hop flavour" to the role with his portrayal of Robin Williams' classic Disney character (via Entertainment Weekly).

"Whenever you’re doing things that are iconic, it’s always terrifying," Smith told EW. "The question is always, 'Where was there meat left on the bone?' Robin didn’t leave a lot of meat on the bone with the character."

Wow. What can one say? Hollywood has been taking a real nosedive for the past decade or so. The bigger the film, the more horrendous it is to watch, is my general rule of thumb. Most bigger Hollywood films seem to be made for the 9-15 year old audience. And plausibility does not seem to mean anything anymore. Fortunately we still have alot of good independent and foreign films, which is mostly what I watch. Plus, there is alot of amazing TV these days. Not on the networks, but cable, Amazon, Netflix, etc. If you wanted me to see Aladdin, Black Panther, Avengers, Rampage, Pacific Rim, I feel pretty, Super troopers, Mission Impossible, or Paddington 2, you would need to pay me $9,500 per film.

If I were Smith, I would be terrified too.

It just looks and sounds like someone painted the Fresh Prince of Bel Air blue. Got to give him credit though. It takes some balls (or ego) to put yourself up for the inevitable comparisons with the legendary Robin Williams.
