Prayut and his NCPO are hanging on by a thread and making suspicious glances at each other. They are hardly united...there are plenty of watermelons among them who would rather not see another military-run government, whether democratically elected or not. GinBoy2
A rather good and sane analysis of the whole Thai mayhem appeared in the NYT. Makes for good reading https://www.nytimes.com/2019/02/09/opinion/thailand-election-king-sister-junta.html?fbclid=IwAR2eHoj3tlO_a9xX1YedCtbY4Auj3HrU15vzbhSb1ENVAfL1FEgdo27WstQ

Prissana Pescud
I have long held that preparations for not going to the polls would be set in motion if the Thai people had the nerve not to believe in Prayut and his Junta. Ever wonder why he has not located to lead a political party in elections. Coz it is not going to happen. The snout is super glued to the trough. GinBoy2
The rotten truth is that Thailand will never transition to a modern democracy until pretty fundamental changes happen That institution that we can't mention seems to be reasserting itself in a very retrograde way. That's highly worrying And until Thai's collectively learn the same lesson that the South Americans did 20 years ago, and Generals start ending up in court and behind bars for staging coups, nothing will change
chama
If the military and Prayut say there is no coup all that is left to be determined is what day it will occur.
Burma Bill
As the saying goes "there is no smoke without fire"!! Out of interest, political banners and bill boards showing parties and candidates are now on prominent display here in rural Isaan.

The next coup will not be the same as last 2 coups. With the key puppet masters fading and dying, the coup will be staged for different reasons and unlikely to be welcomed with roses and without incidents. Grossman
And then you get a certain DPM making remarks about the government staying in power and making a comeback after the election...
