Trying to connect to a wireless network on an Mac, says it's connected and the signal is 'excellent' but there is no connection.

Is there something simple that i'm missing here? :o

No, you are not missing anything.

If the connection is OK - I am not sure where what says "excellent" on a Mac but you can see the number of bars in the menu bar wireless symbol - there's a number of other reasons why the internet wouldn't work.

Where is that wireless network and are you sure you have access?

Possibilities:

- Network has no or non-working DHCP server, you have to choose a fixed IP address.

- Network is locked to certain computers (by MAC address)

- Network is not connected to the internet (even though the wireless is up)

Newer Macs have a diagnosis tool, I think that started in OS X 10.4...

If you have a new Mac 10.4 and are using Safari, you can run a network diagnostic test. This will determine the status of your connection, and what you need to do to fix a problem.
