PHUKET: Patong Mayor Chalermluck Kebsup has revealed that the project to finally install underground the power and communications cables throughout Phuket’s busiest resort town will start next month.

The news came yesterday (Feb 26) when Mayor Chalermluck staged an interview on the Patong beachfront to explain a slew of developments in Patong, including the expansion of the wastewater-treatment plant and upcoming festivities to honour the royal visit to Patong by the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej on Mar 11, 1959.

Mayor Chalermluck said that during the past two months, overall tourism in the Patong area had been good, but expressed concern for bookings so far for March.

<quote>The work should take about one year, and be completed by March 2020.<unquote>

:cheesy::cheesy::cheesy:

Surely we can only judge by the ongoing work to do the same in Pattaya.

I'm quite open to correction, but it must seem like nearly ten years so far?

They buried the cables on the beach road in Karon, which isn't as busy as Patong's equivalent. It didn't take too long to bury them but the road remained in an absolute mess for a year or so before they finally appointed contractors to repave the road!

Different department; different contractors; different brand of brown envelopes no doubt!
