Speak for yourself, I've travelled the world and never been scammed anywhere. Plenty have tried, none have succeeded. Mind you, I do have one advantage of most of the fools on TV, you can't scam a scammer.

That's jogged my memory.

29 years ago, on my second day in Thailand as a first time tourist, I was in a Dairy Queen on Rama 4.

A Thai guy came up and asked if he could sit on the same table as me. I agreed. It started with him asking where I was from (UK) and by coincidence he had been working in London in the past.

After ten minutes he asked if I would like to go to his house and meet his family for a meal. I said OK.

I had just arrived from six week in India where I had met up with two British friends and had been continually subject to scamming attempts. We got so fed up with it, we ended up openly accepting any scam offers and then trying our hardest to piss them off. Managed to get loads of free food, alcohol and cigarettes out of it.

When the Thai guy in Dairy Queen asked me to meet his family, I smelt 'scam', and having been practising in India, I went for it. (It could have been a mistake, I know.) He took me in a taxi out of the city centre to a house and introduced me to his 'father'.

I was offered food, which I ate with them, but making sure I only picked from the same dishes they chose, in case some of it was drugged. Problem was they kept choosing fish dishes, which I hate, but, scam-baiters can't be choosers, so I had to eat the fish.

After the meal 'father' told me he was a croupier in a casino on the Malaysian border, and I could make good money if I became partners with him to cheat the other players.

Now I cannot play cards to save my life, it just doesn't interest me. That confused him, so he had to start crying, telling me his wife was seriously ill in hospital and he needed to make money to pay for her hospital bill.

I decided I'd had my money's worth, and got the son to find me a taxi to take me back into town.

He came with me in the taxi, apologising for his 'father'. He wanted to introduce me to his 'sister' later that evening and for me to go ice skating with her, but that's a story for another time.

You can't scam someone who's broke either.

Which is a line that I often use, "Sorry mate, I'm brassock, can you lend me a fiver?". Gets rid of scammers like nothing else.

the greed is too strong, they will not stop scamming, cheating and overcharging any time soon.

I'm being overcharged for cheese and milk. Who can I complain too.

Some sort of show to impress someone, these scams are no doubt a cash cow for police chiefs, generals and Bangkok officials.

And yet another example of thainess.  . . Ripoff the foreigners.

wait what? the same guys are back again today? lol. at the grand palace no less- ripping of tourists. its been like that for years and the police did nothing-this time is different right?

Yeah, my girlfriend is different, the police now are different.

Same same, not different.

They were all given jobs with immigration.

You forgot to mention the positions were in the non-active section.
